Senator Mike Lee Pushes to Definitively Bar Women from the Draft
National Review ^ | 02/10/2016 | Elaina Plott

As early as Thursday, Senator Mike Lee will drop in a new bill that would definitively bar women from registering for the selective service, pairing legislative text with the recent explosion in debate on the issue.

The exclusion of women from the draft is already law – upheld by the Supreme Court in 1981 — but the rationale for the Court's decision centered on the combat restrictions for women that existed at the time. Now that those restrictions have been lifted — Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced the change in December — so too has the premise for current law.

The Utah senator seeks to preempt a scenario in which the Supreme Court takes up another challenge to the selective-service law and decides to "rewrite it like they did for Obamacare," says Conn Carroll, a spokesman for Lee. He thinks it's plausible the Court would reason that because women can now fight on the frontlines, "Congress must have meant drafting women would be ok, too."

Sorry, women want equal rights, libertards want women in combat arms, women must pay the full price of the ticket.

BUT, Senator Lee, here’s something that your obviously narrow mind ever thought of; make women register for the draft, and if the draft is ever reinstated, draft them. They can do all the admin, supply, motor t, etc., duties and free up a man to do a man’s job. Oh yeah, they can make sandwiches too.

It’s isn’t equal until it’s equal across the board.

While it would be entertaining to irritate liberals by forcing women into draft, it is a bad idea. It’s already dangerous enough that some women will volunteer for combat and thus weaken combat readiness. But a draft would force thousands of women into combat and guarantee defeat and massive loss of life.

I’m with Senator Lee. Don’t punish all women for the act of a handful of feminazis. Yes, I have daughters and I may be overly emotional about it.

Some of the comments here are eye-opening. What Mike Lee is doing is a good thing. I get the idea of people paying the price when their world view comes back to bite them. However, that is not what is going on here. The people being hurt in this case are not the ones who created the problem. They are young girls, many of whom will be voting for the first time this year. They are not responsible for this mess. Most women don’t subscribe to the feminist world view, yet some of you want them to pay the price for it by being forced to register for selective service? You want to use 18 yr old girls as pawns for some political end? Really? Passing a law like this helps to bring an end to this insanity. I hope some of you will rethink your position on this.

So far no one has addressed my fear that the draft can be used as a tool in social engineering.

Some misguided fool will suggest that true gender equality means 50/50, and there aren't enough female volunteers to achieve that, so what do we do?

Women won't like what happens after that ...

This bill should both prohibit women from being subject to draft registration and prohibiting women from serving in the ground gaining combat arms and in combat units designated by each of the services. Letting women off the hook for draft registration while allowing loonie leftie politicians open the combat arms to women is insane. How easily some people can be manipulated by the left and the media.

One physical fitness test.

One height/weight standard.

Women have had years to put a stop to this, and they just stood there and smiled.

Welcome to the Infantry, ladies.

Fact is our upper body strength sucks rocks; but libs won’t
understand that. So; give ‘em what they *think* they want.

When the “bug out” signal sounds; we cannot lift the heavy
weights to load the trucks. So, we won’t “bug out”. OK as
long as enemy missiles aren’t incoming.

Why? I couldn't care less about what liberals think. Being drafted doesn't mean combat. Military personal is more support than combat. Women have served in the military during times of war and never saw combat or even a combat zone...and they weren't all nurses.

You ever heard of WACs, Waves, and WAFs?
