Ted Cruz Might Be The Real Winner In New Hampshire
Daily Caller ^ | 02/10/2016 | Matt Lewis

Posted on 02/10/2016 6:12:21 AM PST by justlittleoleme

My gut (and let’s be fair, almost every analyst was united on this one) turned out to be correct; Rubio’s momentum coming out of Iowa was effectively killed on Saturday.

-snip-

What is more, the fact that non-affiliated voters are allowed to vote in the primaries rewards candidates who are perceived as moderate and authentic.

But here’s the thing: Maybe I’ll be proven wrong, but I’m skeptical Kasich can replicate this in other states where conservative voters matter a lot more in primaries.

-snip-

My guess is that Tuesday night will be the highlight of Kasich’s 2016 campaign.

So the really interesting point is that I think the big winner of the night is Ted Cruz . The primaries are about to head South, which is Cruz country. Unlike other Evangelical candidates who win Iowa but can’t parlay that into more, Cruz’s respectable finish in New Hampshire demonstrates that he’s not simply a regional candidate.

If you think about what happened on Tuesday night, Cruz swapped a serious rival (Rubio) for a guy who likely is a one-hit wonder (Kasich). That’s a trade he will take every day and twice on Sundays. Because the “establishment” lane is now muddled and muddy (even Jeb Bush is looking better these days!), there is a real danger that mainstream conservative voters could begin to coalesce around Cruz as the best, last hope to stop Donald Trump.

We’re not quite there yet. There’s still a chance that someone else could emerge. Maybe Rubio pulls out a surprise win in South Carolina? It ain’t over till it’s over. But we are getting dangerously close to entering a stage where it becomes a Trump vs. Cruz race.

Well point of fact is that the big winner of the night was Donald J. Trump with 35% of the vote. Cruz got about 11.6%. SC is not Cruz country. Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott both endorsed Marco Rubio and the Lt Gov has endorsed Trump. Donald Trump is now and has been leading in the SC polls at about 36%. There is no reason aside from naked hope to believe Ted Cruz will win SC or any other primary except maybe his own state of TX.

Matt Lewis, the author of this article is a rabid TRUMP HATER, one of the biggest! He puts an article out the day after a TRUMP landslide and can’t even acknowledge the win. He wants to talk third place as the win...HUH?. I have nothing against Senator Cruz, he is my second choice, but I just can’t stand the vile media hacks, we are all seeing exposed.

Odd, strange to me, that a state whose very motto is “Live Free or Die” would vote so heavily for Sanders the Socialist.

Haven't you heard. That Motto has been changed just a bit over the past 10-15 years. Now it is Live free on OPM or die. Cause life just aint the same with out free stuff! :)

I agree with that point. Although I am for Trump, I want Cruz to finish second so that if Trump fades, he can take over. I would feel the same way if Cruz were first and Trump second. I want the establishment candidates bringing up the rear where they belong.

I heard Deace too. The race in SC is shaping up as Jeb-establishment, Cruz-conservative,Trump-everybody in betweeen. This gives Cruz a decent path to the nomination. Trump needs to falter though.

Why is it that there are so many articles coming out today that are trying to figure out who won in New Hampshire?
Disbelief? Denial?

The media has to make it interesting. Trump is right when he says we are going to win so much you'll get tired of winning.

Winning will become accepted once again just like Republicans always losing to Democrats has been.

That's why brain dead Republicans fear Trump negotiating with the likes of Pelosi. They're so used to Republicans caving to Democrats they can't fathom the idea of winning against them in a negotiation.

The Iowa dirty tricks campaign and unending pleas for money destroyed his image.

To people on this board yes. To voters in the coming primaries...............not so much.

I’m pulling for Trump to get third in SC. That way he can declare victory.

First Trump will have to hope to get like 5th. That way he can say he beat his (low) expectations.

So much for “We the People” selecting the party candidate when there’s that RNC DNC uniparty thang purposefully getting in the way...

... the truth is the establishment is frightened of Ted Cruz.
They will come around to TRUMP at some point because he truly is closer to their agenda...
He and MITCH will make deals... lots of them, much to the horror of all those who are drinking his kool-aid.

“The People” have never selected the candidates. The People are not supposed to select the candidates.

The fiction that they do is responsible for the survival of the two parties.

so... how do you think TRUMP and MITCH will do? Ya think TRUMP will try and oust Mitch at the first red light? Don’t think so... all those who were moaning and groaning about Mitch’s re-election will now say what a great asset the man is to Washington??
Your avoiding my question about the relationship with Mitch and Trump...
do you think Mitch is going to roll over and cooperate with buddy Trump?
Because if he isn’t .. we will still have a stalemate!
