Black Lives Matter Activist Fatally Shoots Himself in Front of Ohio Statehouse, Reportedly Leaves Behind a Message

An Ohio man and Black Lives Matter activist fatally shot himself Monday evening on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus Dispatch reported.
MarShawn M. McCarrel II, whom authorities say was spotted on the Statehouse grounds just moments before killing himself, was pronounced dead on the scene.
No one witnessed the suicide, authorities told the Dispatch.
âWe donât have any evidence to know the reason why he did it,â Craig Cvetan of Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
McCarrel reportedly posted on his Facebook page shortly after 3 p.m., however, saying, âMy demons won today. Iâm sorry.â
The last tweet posted from his Twitter account read, âLet the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left.â
In addition to his activist work, McCarrel, 23, worked with youth mentorship programs in Franklin Township and also launched a nonprofit group called Feed the Streets to provide meals to the homeless, the Grio reported.
âAll everyone needs is love,â he told 614 Columbus in 2014 while speaking about his nonprofit. âThatâs a human being. Thatâs a pulse. Weâre feeding everyone, weâre sending the message â today I got you; tomorrow, I could be right there.â
The Pursuing Our Dreams Facebook page posted a message Monday honoring McCarrell. McCarrell started the organization in 2013:

No matter...
I take some offense that his generous act resulted in taxpayers paying to clean the site.
Me too. How about head of the Secret Service .. surely they could use a person who really understands what the threat is to the President and America.
On the orders of Calypso Louis.
Yeah, it could have been a misguided political move.
I just hate when someone disdains their own life in such a way.
