This assertion has been floating around ever since Angie hit the Billboard charts. According to urban legend it was written by Mick Jagger for Bowie's first wife, Angela who filed for divorce and fell into a deep depression when she found out David and Sir Mick had an "affair". It may be BS, but then again this is show biz and the way the nose candy flew around back then, and still does, who knows.

Most of those stories about Bowie were planted for PR purposes. It was all about the image, he basically admitted it was all a ruse.

I recall someone a long time ago referring to the possible encounter as “Dancing in the Sheets”, as opposed to “Dancing in the Street”, the Martha Reeves and the Vandellas tune Bowie and Jagger did together back in the 70s or 80s.
