This is a no clickbait zone. Care to summarize if you think it’s important?
Who knew...the guy kicks major establishment butt wherever he goes!
Anyone with a true free-market conservative sensibility can ear the words of Milton Friedman echoing through Cruz’ words in the exact same way it echoed through Reagan. Friedman is a true economic genius whose principles must be at the foundation of any successful economy.
Good article. Thanks for posting. Cruz is one of the brightest, most solidly conservative candidates we’ve had in the last 25 years. The vilification that he’s received from the media and the left is expected and understandable. What’s troubling, though, is how the populist right has joined in that vilification at the behest of their leader.
Its hard to understand why some so offhandedly trash him. And on this site.
From the article:
At the FTC, Cruz’s agenda could have been written by Milton Friedman.
Cruz promoted economic liberty and fought government efforts to rig the marketplace in favor of special interests. Most notably, Cruz launched an initiative to study the government’s role in conspiring with established businesses to suppress e-commerce. This initiative ultimately led the U.S. Supreme Court to open up an entire industry to small e-tailers. Based on his early support of disruptive online companies, Cruz has some grounds to call himself the “Uber of American politics.”
Moreover, and perhaps surprising to some, Cruz sought and secured a broad, bipartisan consensus for his agenda. Almost all of Cruz’s initiatives received unanimous support among both Republicans and Democrats.
Ted Cruz a consensus-builder? He was, at the FTC.
the Free-republic vilification is astounding
Reagan would never have supported that trade deal that Cruz did. It is a disaster. You would think Cruz would have learned something after seeing how NAFTA turned out. But a globalist like Cruz probably think NAFTA is cool. Wake up Cruzers. Please.

FR demands purity.
The problem is we don’t all agree on the standards of comparison.
Thankfully this will soon be coming to conclusion (primary season)
In my opinion a significant portion of conservative on our side have lost their nerve and are fleeing to the perceived strongman. If Ted Cruz keeps doing well, and Trump keeps talking about how politically correct he is going to become if he secures the nomination, I think many will come to their senses and return home to Ted Cruz as time goes on.
Well, I knew Milton Friedman. I debated Milton Friedman-—and he had the pro-government, pro-Fed position and I had the free market position. That Milton Friedman? The pro-big-government money guy?
That’s part of the problem isn’t it? Trump doesn’t read anything except Hitler’s speeches*, and he thinks there are enough Republicans who don’t read that he can con them. If more Republicans did read, he wouldn’t be polling so high and would have been laughed out of the race long ago. I’m praying that there are enough well read conservatives to defeat him. I think there are.
Are you sure you aren’t confusing Milton Friedman with John Maynard Friedman?
It’s legitimately, and deeply concerning. It’s certainly cured me of any fantasy that an armed rebellion could return us to constitutional rule. I don’t want to trust my life to people who are so easily swayed by a half-witted demagogue.
Nope. We were on a barge going down the Danube. He defended the Fed, I was arguing for free-market banking like we had prior to 1863. He said only the government could create money that had value.
