“Trump could do worse than Rubio as VP pick.”
The last thing I want is “MR Gang of 8” Marco Rubio one heart beat away from the presidency
Same here. But real politik is what it is. If Trump wins the nomination and thinks Rubio can help win the general he will pick him.
Whatcha gonna do if Trump gets the nomination and chooses Marco Rubio as his running mate?
These displays of idiocy aren’t even remotely similar to a “debate”. They are ugly, coarse displays of people at their worst. I think the long, slow decline started when they started calling each other by their names instead of “The esteemed senator from Vermont’. Then it went to a first name basis. Now, it’s little more than a 2:00AM barroom brawl by a bunch of suburbanites with a lot more bark than bite. It’s worse than that, actually - it’s like gladiators in a coliseum killing each other for the amusement of the upper class (if you can use the word “class” in any way to describe the moderators, who are mostly news wonks).
I would like to see debates (on both sides) abolished entirely unless they can be done properly - that is, an actual debate of ideas.
I believe that these so-called debates have contributed a great deal to the ever-declining opinion that citizens have of politicians.

Trump needs Cruz on the ticket to reconcile the base, the conservatives who are not fooled by Rubio's belated pretend-conservative positions.
Trump, if nominated, must not make the mistake Ronald Reagan made when he did his deal with Bush 41 to reconcile the Big Money. Bush got big patronage and used it to put his people in key positions and basically take over the Reagan Administration, isolating and competitively (NOT cooperating) freezing the Reaganauts out of policy and administration.
George Bush did a creeping coup d' etat within the Reagan Administration, to the extent that Ronnie's second term was basically Bush's first -- and the People knew it. The Reagan Administration at the end was overrun by the nasty Chamber types who have been hanging around Yeb!, and if Trump goes with Rubio, those same faces are going to show up around Rubio (like, Karl Rove, for instance) and crawl all over Trump's act, turning it into a fourth Bush term (fifth, counting Reagan's second).
