Search engine giant reveals plans for pilot scheme to home affairs committee hearing, with Facebook and Twitter also probed over extremism policies __ Users of Google who put extremist-related entries into the search engine are to be shown anti-radicalisation links under a pilot programme, MPs have been told by an executive for the company. The initiative, aimed at countering the online influence of groups such as Islamic State, is running alongside another pilot scheme designed to make counter-radicalisation videos easier to find
The schemes were mentioned by Anthony House, senior manager for public policy and communications at Google, who was appearing alongside counterparts from Twitter and Facebook at a home affairs select committee hearing on countering extremism. âWe should get the bad stuff down, but itâs also extremely important that people are able to find good information, that when people are feeling isolated, that when they go online, they find a community of hope, not a community of harm,â he said.

“Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad.”
Google has been on top for so long they don’t realize that if they start doublecrossing the people who use their free apps they will quit using the free stuff. Even if it’s free, if it doesn’t do what you want it to, you don’t use it.
Because our STASI agencies just can't have people thinking unapproved thoughts.
They wouldn't dare do this with queers. (Point them to therapy sites for queerness.)
I don't like Islamic extremist crap, but I am more afraid of Big Brother than I am of the Islamic nutjobs.
That is where this dangerous train would likely headed. After all, and searches like "Islam promotes violence" already results in mostly liberal pages which deny it as the top results. As if is is even debatable.
Bull pucky. The second article listed from Google on “Islam promotes violence” reads:
Islam has a bloody history. While political correctness is used to hide this fact from the public, the reality is that Islam promotes large-scale violence.
True, and that second one certainly attests to that, which i took to be the opposite due to its name and the snippet the search results showed, “Islam is a religion of peace. Islam does not tolerate wanton murder.”
And i apologize for my hasty judgment, as a closer look of the top 15 results indicates maybe about a 50/50 split, including this gem: "It is clear from even a cursory study of the Qur'an that Islam does not permit, condone or promote violence. Just the opposite, it abhors violence ..." I wonder what kind of glasses they are wearing. Of course, liberals deny the MSM is overall liberal as well.
