As a child, Trump attended Marble Collegiate Church, a Reformed church (similar theologically to Presbyterians but with roots in the Netherlands rather than Scotland). It was and still is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, the most liberal of the American Reformed denominations. The pastor at that time was Norman Vincent Peale, a celebrity pastor in post World War II New York. He was not an evangelical but he was also not a liberal on the order of William Sloane Coffin or Paul Tillich. He was most known for preaching a positive thinking message, not unlike Joel Osteen in our time. This was the religious background in which Trump was raised. He is amazingly tone deaf to the preferences of evangelicals, as evidenced by his attending a pro-pervert church. I don't think that even Hillary Clinton is as clueless. Bill is certainly not clueless.
Trump could use some coaching in this matter. John Kennedy, a Catholic in an era of more prejudice than is the case now, deftly handled his relations with Protestant clergy and laity.

“I heard he was sitting between a couple of Corinthians, too.”
He was trying to cut a business with them for leather; as he heard they were rich Corinthians.
Trump wanted to corner the market on rich Corinthian leather for his hotels.

yes, thanks
I agree with you that Mr. Trump could use some good coaching about the various religious denominations in USA.
There are a lot of ‘churches’ and ‘synagogues’ that have gone ‘off the rail’ ...preferring to pray to a leftist false idol instead of simply the one true God.
Still, I personally am not holding this one Donald visit to this one church ....against him. As you indicate, he may just need some informed guidance (to tell the wolves apart from the sheep, so to speak). He does not appear to be seriously involved in matters of faith, and if this is an accurate assessment then....he probably just didn’t know is all.
Thanks,

“Telling him to leave just starts an argument”
I think he can buy testosterone producing stuff at the health food store — if he doesn’t mind asking for it. He probably won’t mind.

“How could any Presbyterian not know that the PC(USA) is pro-homosexual. So much for Trumpâs âfaithâ.”
They just changed to allow gay marriage last fall, and from what I understand not all Presbyterian churches do them.
