"Fundamental Right"? How about a total inalienable right? Which shall NOT be infringed by the government. Guess this will be headed up hill. Pretty sure the mommunists will be apoplectic at this ruling.

Apparently you do not understand what it means when a court declared a fundamental right
This is a good ruling

Citizens have a right and, arguably, a duty to own the weapons and equipment of a light infantryman, including crew served weapons, anti-tank weapons, etc.

All of my firearms are Assault Weapons. My knives, nightsticks, forks, spoons, my dog and even #2 pencils. Under the right circumstances, everything I own, or can get my hands on, is an Assault Weapon.

The most interesting thing about the ruling is that they decided "strict scrutiny" should be applied to the case.
I haven't read through it yet, but the article included a copy of the ruling itself. Normally they don't bother to do that.

Written by Cristian Farias, Legal Affairs Reporter, The Huffington Post. Typical Huffer slant. Makes Judge King a prophet:
As if to illustrate the volatile politics and legalities of gun control, dissenting Circuit Judge Robert King all but declared that the court's ruling would lead to the next mass shooting.
"Let's be real," King wrote. "The assault weapons banned by Maryland's [law] are exceptionally lethal weapons of war."
Fortunately the other two Federal judges are not so exceptionally and lethally dim-witted, nor as prejudiced as the reporter.
