“Texas gun laws are more restrictive than many other states. We are working on it, and I do not want to discourage you from coming, but as far as gun rights, you could do better than Texas.”
I have never seen a ‘non-fully automatic’ gun in an advertisement that I could not buy ‘as is’ in a Texas gun store. I can walk out with it as soon as the paper work is done, no waiting for the Fed’s to do a check since I have a CHL (now a LTC).
From decision to buy to heading to the range is usually less than an hour unless the “Super Gun Salesman” has given another sales pitch...
There are some restrictions on where we can carry, but I personally don’t have any problems with them.
BTW, I am a Benefactor Member of the NRA and a life member of the other major gun groups... I am not a ‘sportsman’ hunter...
Oh. You too, huh?
I can remember when I was 14 and my Dad and I walked into a big hardware store, might have been Sears & Roebuck. I had saved a lot of money from my paper route and plunked down $25 plus change on the counter as the clerk handed my Dad the .22 Ithica rifle I had been lusting after. When we got to the car, my Dad handed me the rifle and we drove home with me holding the rifle in the front seat. No paper work, except for a receipt. This was in California in 1964.
But the whole 30.06/07 debate is so stupid. Liberals all over the state are pressuring businesses to restrict those of us that are intent on obeying the law because guns are scary. I think the concealed restrictions should be eliminated entirely, and "proper notice" should never be a liberal, pointing and screeching, "OMG!!! GUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNN!!!!"
