Condoleezza Rice Aides, Colin Powell Also Got Classified Info on Personal Emails

State Department officials have determined that classified information was sent to the personal email accounts of former Secretary of State Colin Powell and the senior staff of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, NBC News has learned.

The IG came upon the material during the course of a review of how current and past secretaries of state deal with classified material and with email.

The review was prompted by the current controversy over Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a personal computer server to conduct government business while secretary of state.

Linick's findings will be seen as helpful to Clinton, because they show that past secretaries of state and senior officials used personal accounts to conduct government business and occasionally allowed secrets to spill into the insecure traffic.

Really? Allow me to parse through this statement a bit--

Has NBC News also learned who sent this classified information? What was the specific classification? Was it considered Confidential, Secret or Top Secret, and did it pertain to national security? Who exactly, sent this information to the former Secretaries? Were they ordered to send it to them on a non-secure server? If so, who gave that order? Why do these government e-mail systems permit users to share e-mail outside of secure government domains anyway? It would be so easy to transpose a character or a domain suffix, and send classified material anywhere.

Regardless, the media is simply attempting to circle the wagons for Clinton with stories like this. And if Powell and Rice were guilty of such acts, they too, should be prosecuted.

Politico is reporting now the FBI is going to expand their investigation into Powell.

You really didn’t think Hillary wasn’t going to take this lying down?

I’m glad to see your post. It was my understanding that all communications are “classified” The question is what it was classified AS.

If I were Hillary I’d be very frightened about this. The FBI seems deadly serious about this and may be looking to seek indictment on whoever mishandled classified info.

This is being done to slow down the investigation - Since we now have to look into the activities of these other individuals, we cannot make any recommendations regarding Mrs. Clinton until the entire investigation is completed (well after the November election.)

Running for president isn’t the illegal part. Its the private email for government business. It is a widespread problem and is a technique both sides use to hide their activities from FOIA.

And just watch, Hillary will never face charges for it. That is only for low level employers.

Well that settles it - we should just let this go. Heck, others do it so that makes it okay, right? o.O

So, if I rob a bank, do you think the judge will throw the case out if I point out that other people before me have also robbed banks?
