Bloomberg article at gcaptain.
There actually is a pretty big field off of Newfoundland called Hibernia. But drilling offshore America has been disappointing.
If the oil is not drilled and tapped, it seeps into the ocean directly. Just a fact of nature. Reducing the pressure in the dome reduces the leakage.
But reality never affected the cult of enviro-mentals.
IMO if a state has oil on or off shore and they decide not to drill, they should not be allowed to purchase or have access to oil/gasoline or any byproducts from any other state or country.
Look at the Ocean City MD Fishing Pier that was just rebuilt - one night's storm week ago Friday and most of it is gone.
I doubt the envirowhackos have much to worry about for the time being, given the current commodity price environment.
My thought as well.
