Cop was a complete tool - one of the bad ones so often mentioned.
Deserves everything they can throw at him.
Sometimes I wonder if these are real cops or actors courtesy of the Obummer administration whose sole purpose is to flame race relations. If they are real cops, the KNOW they are on camera and I assume they would prefer not to get fired or go to jail or flame race relations further, yet gee whiz, we keep seeing this stuff don’t we? And what a coincidence, it all started when Obama became President.
Opening the car door seemed to be what triggered the beating.
I bet steroids had something to do with it.
Yup. I wonder how many times the good ones covered up for him over the years.
Good luck in prison, a-hole.
Take away power from the people and put it in the hands of the government, and this happens.
I’m surprised he didn’t get away with his crime.
I suspect it will be greatly enlarged by time he gets out.
To put him in Gen-Pop would be a crime, but you know what to h3ll with him, let him watch his butt for the years to come.
Yup.

The Judge rails on the wife as well after she storms out of the courtroom acting like an idiot.
Ya know folks say things like connect the dots. This “law enforcement official” is going where he deserves to be.
Too bad the judge cannot sentence him to all of his time being spent in the general population.
The judge is rather full of herself (as many judges are), but the dirty cop deserves to serve in General Population like any other convicted thug. There was no justification to force the driver to the ground in the first place, let alone to use a a stranglehold while he was face-down on the pavement. I suspect he strangled the arrestee to provoke “resistance” that would justify a worse beating. Throw the bastard in Gen-Pop and let other dirty cops take notice. Noblesse oblige.
Sorry - I don’t see what you see.
While I get incensed over arrogant cops with no understanding of the constitution like most of you - what I see here is a guy who was resisting arrest.
You resist and you are going to have force used against you. That’s just reality. Which may include punches to the face. I do BJJ and those blows just weren’t that hard - IMO they were designed to distract not damage so that his partner could cuff him.
13 months for that? How the f*ck to you expect cops to arrest people? Ask nicely?
They cannot use tasers, they cannot use batons, they cannot use saps, the people who sit on juries have never been in a fight in their lives and they pass judgement. It’s ridicules.
That whole force should get the blue flue for a month. Being a cop any more seems like an impossible task.
Maybe I need to watch it again. Or maybe the probably racist dyke judge was just over the top.
“...William Melendez,...”
I assume he be a “white Hispanic”!
Twenty or thirty years ago the police were trained to deescalate tense situations. The cops would have ordered this detainee to turn around and place his hands behind his back, and would have used force only if he actually resisted. Today, the "good guys" start out yelling "Get on the f-ing round m-fer!" like you'd expect a gang of thugs to do. Respect for the police has declined along with policing standards, and this needs to be corrected before the citizenry's voluntary consent to authority is completely lost.
