Yes, I not only saw the piece LIVE, I’ve also watched the video. NOWHERE does CNN ever say, “Carson is OUT of the race” or “Carson is SUSPENDING his campaign” or “Carson is QUITTING”.
NOWHERE.
Again.....an ethical campaign would wait for an official announcement from another campaign before spreading rumors of said campaign’s demise.
Let me C&P it here again:
FEMALE: Look. If you want to be President of the United States, you don’t go to Florida. I mean, that’s just bottom line. That’s the end of the story. If you want to signal to your supporters that you want it, that you’re hungry for it, that you want them to get out and campaign, you gotta be out there doing it too, and he’s not doing it. It’s very unusual.
Also, CRuz’s team said that media reports were saying that Carson was not going to campaign in NH and SC.
Where is the lie?
One of Cruz’s team put out a tweet that was later deleted, saying that he had confirmed with somebody in Carson’s NH team that Carson was out. Carson’s NH team had all quit the day before, saying they loved Carson but wanted to help somebody who had a chance of winning (Ted Cruz) - which sounds like something people committed to conservatism would say if they were told, right before their efforts would be most needed in NH, that Carson wasn’t going to campaign there because he was going to announce the end of his candidacy. It seem possible and maybe even probable that the Cruz team contacted one of those people and were told that Carson had told his NH staffers that he was going to quit.
Perhaps Carson wanted to make sure that people thought he was not going to quit, at least until the vote was over so he could see how he did. But to do that he had to claim that he was still going to campaign - contradicting what he told his NH workers (if what I suspect is correct).
