Your premise is well put forth and thank you for it. I still think that the deplorable sinking of the media to the depths of becoming political shills spells doom for our electoral process. So does the practice of introducing “market science” to something so important.
The debate farce that has become so popular with Americans amounts to nothing more than cage matches. They actually reveal very little about the character and policy stances of the candidates.
We have become the stuff of fiction novels and tabloids in real time. It’s sad that the majority of Americans have known nothing else.
Surely you will agree that we no longer have two diverse political parties but what amounts to uniparty. That was evident after the last election.

- Make a statement you know Trust Fund Donnie will jump on.
- Listen to the braying of Trump and the media about what a horrible mistake it was.
- Double-down on it with tons of advertising in Iowa showing Trump explaining his New York Values in his own words.
Cruz knew exactly what he was doing. Knew the attention and heat it would generate. And knew above all else that he was ready with the video that people in Iowa would fully understand.
Cruz plays 3 dimensional chess. Trump plays Tic-Tac-Toe.

Trump “lost” because people will follow an alpha male who can lead them and take care of the pack more than the cares for himself.
Trump lost because a lot of people get tired of hearing someone who can only talk smack and about himself... like obungo.

Trump lost because he supported ethanol instead of just keeping his mouth shut. When asked, if asked he should say what he believes to be true instead of simply pandering. He made himself just another politician by pandering. I wished it would not be so.
Trump lost because he said things like, “I could shoot someone in the middle of Times Square and I’d still have my voters.” Not. That is not only egocentric it is also stupid and disrespectful of the voters. They won’t all follow anyone with a messiah complex. He ain’t god even though the thinks he is.
Trump lost because of his mouth, his arrogance and his lack of character.
He has lost me even though I would like to see some tear the system a new rear end he isn’t the man to lead. But who is? Cruz has shown himself to be oily and Murko is about as mature as a 17 year-old running for class president and about that articulate.

I’ll always believe the “Carson is dropping out so vote for Cruz” crap was planned. It’s easy to do if all you have to do the next day is apologize.
The question is where are the Carson voters who switched their vote for Trump? Did Carson under perform according to the polls while we know Cruz over performed. As did Rubio. Was it because of Carson voters changing their votes?
If that’s the case, Trump has a point. If it can’t be proven and no Carson voter is willing to come forward, then Trump should let the people decide if Cruz is a slime ball or not.
Trump is totally unbalanced. This feud between Cruz and Trump is just embarrassing.
At this point this is Rubio’s election to lose. All he has to do is stay above this crap and he will walk away with the nomination.
He just endorsed Rubio!
Cruz will be begging to repeat the Iowa Caucus over and over to determine the national candidate.
