I don’t know how Trump made his money. I know it was reported that there was a time when he wanted to use eminent domain for a parking lot or something. I don’t know what Cruz’s campaign ad claimed; I haven’t seen it. I think Trump has been pretty open about his using the political process for his business conquests, which is part of what’s wrong in DC. Given the background there are reasonable questions about whether Trump would really be willing to undo some of the corruption in DC.
I don’t know who I’ll vote for. I just want it to be over. I’m tired of people being ugly. I want my country back.
First of all, individuals cannot use eminent domain. Cruz should know this. Second, the widow did not lose her home to eminent domain. She kept the house and lived in it. But the ad shows a bulldozer turning the house to rubble. The voiceover says Trump got rich using eminent domain. In fact, he made not One Penny via eminent domain. It was a total, complete and sleazy lie.
Voters were asked about the ad. They said Trump’s use of eminent domain to put the widow on the street, tear down her house and get rich was the single most disturbing/negative thing they had learned about him. The ad was in heavy rotation. Who knows how many thousands of votes it cost Trump.
