A Daallo Airline Airbus A321 flight D3159 made an emergency landing at Mogadishu today after an explosion soon after takeoff from Mogadishu, Somalia.
A loud bang was heard followed by flames, injuring 2 passengers.
Lol. Duct tape... They probably have white available nowadays....
People complain here in the states about TSA never finding anything on passengers going through security. There’s a reason for that: it’s because the terrorists know that they can’t get this type of thing through security. And once the TSA stops checking, that’s when we’ll see these incidents happen on U.S. turf.
Yeah, I know there have been failures, and there have been published incidents of high failure rates. But are we sure those are valid? Or, are they? Are they a lure to catch attempted bombers? In reality, I don’t think so, because I don’t think the leadership of the TSA is that capable to put together something as sophisticated as that (research “government competence” to see why).
In any event, we have seen several instances of airliners going down from overseas departures in the past few years, so I’m a whale of a lot more comfortable flying from a U.S. airport than I would be from an overseas airport - because the terrorists know that the TSA does look out for these types of things, and that they know that they can’t hide bombs in Granny’s wheelchair tubing, wrap plastique in her depends or a baby’s diaper. That’s what terrorists do, so I’m ok with them checking those things out when I’m a passenger on the plane carrying those seemingly innocents.
Really? Hmmmmmm..
Yep...
Me too! :-)
Good points.
I’m no engineer but that will take more than duck tape.
This calls for hay string to hold the plane together then duck tape to cover the big hole to keep the wind and rain out.
Should be good for a few 100,000 more miles.
“Well...that’s the last time I ever get on a Daallo Airlines flight!”
Look at pic #1. Got to hand it to Airbus. The seat blew out of the table stayed locked in the upright position!
“Im more surprised they actually have planes flying out of Mogadishu then I am about an explosion on it.”
That was my first thought, too.
I thought exactly the same thing.
Just a smidgen more stress on the air frame or explosive power and everyone on board would be dead.
Missed it by THAT much!
“It could have been a premature detonation of a bomb carried by a passenger.”
Young Muslims are used to that “premature detonation” stuff.......
Ethiopians have an A321? Wow.
I’ll bet that flying germ tube smells absolutely nasty.
Hey Achmed you want to see me light a fart.......
I never went back to see if the paint job held up but I was appalled to see the outline of the duct tape under the fresh coat of paint. I know duct tape is good stuff but at 20.000 feet? Yikes!
The post may say that, but looking at the banana peeled exterior, and not seeing a similar diameter of damage to the interior, I’d say there was an explosion, but the hole was ripped bigger by decompression.
Or not.
