Government Executive ^

Donald Trump leads the Republican field among federal employees, but many still say they would never work for him.

One in four federal workers would consider leaving their jobs if Trump were elected president, according to a new survey conducted by the Government Business Council, Government Executive Media Group’s research arm. About 14 percent of respondents said they would definitely consider leaving federal service under President Trump, while an additional 11 percent said they might. The findings indicate those leaving government would come from agencies' top ranks, as a majority of respondents were in General Schedule positions GS-13 and higher.

But they won’t.

This is great news. Lots of new job openings for younger conservatives to fill and a massive exodus of gaia-worshiping liberals. I’d vote for Trump just to see that happen.

He is cutting the size of government before even taking office! Go Trump!

Me too. Is this supposed to be a negative thing? I see no downside to it.

The operative word there is "consider". If you think the govemps that would make that statement can be made to leave the government trough by any other means than being drug by their feet kicking and screaming, you are delusional.

To believe that many federal employees would quit simply because Trump became President is an outright lie!

First of all where would they get jobs in the private sector? Second of all, who in their right minds would hire an employee who worked (excuse the pun...worked) for the government since they are mostly worthless and have no work ethic at all along with real world experiences.

No, they blow a lot of hot air but won’t leave a job in which they are overpaid, have excessive benefits, generous vacations and work for an employer that rarely ever fires an employee for any reason.

However, it would be a dream come true if 25% quit and no one hired to replace them. No one would miss them and the same amount of work would be accomplished.

Oh man, stop it, I already like Trump well enough to vote for him, you don’t have to keep selling me on the idea! I would love the idea of a 25% cut in the federal workforce - but make it across the board, not just the GS-13s and above.

I can’t stand Trump, but this would be a nice consequence.

Simply not hiring replacements civil servants for 4-years will cause the civil service to go down by 25%.

The average civilian employee age for most Federal agencies — Homeland Security apart — is in the high 40’s to low 50’s.

In a rational society, fewer gov employees means lower gov payroll means less taxes needed.

Like another reason I needed to support Trump. If the rats leave the ship, it may not sink.

Seals the deal for me! That's one sure fire way to shrink the size of the Federal Government!!!

I work with Fed Employees, long story short a certain chunk of them are primadonna’s and had we not had AA and them mostly taking the old civil service exam, a good chunk of them would not be here so I say good riddance.

- just my two cents.

At least that many should be replaced anyway, but are protected by unions.

I suspect many of the 25% are already eligible for pensioned retirement. They're hanging around to get a few more salary step increases, to get their pensions as high as possible.

Please. Bunch of damn babies.

They would never give up their gov’t teat unless forced to do so...and a President Trump might very well force it.

It’s stories like these that make me like Trump more and more...win or lose.

Not only is it a great start, it is an excellent way to get rid of the ones who need to be gotten rid of without spending a dime. Not even unemployment if they quit of their own accord.
