Ted Cruz under siege in Iowa
cnn ^ | 4:12 PM ET, Fri January 29, 2016 | Theodore Schleifer and Nia-Malika Henderson

Ted Cruz started the month riding high in Iowa. Now, he just wants to get out of the state alive.

The self-styled rock-ribbed conservative is under siege, battling attacks from his right and left flanks who say the Texas senator with tea party and evangelical credentials isn't who he claims to be.

And as Cruz appears to be falling farther behind front-runner Donald Trump, his campaign is now looking in the rear-view mirror, concerned that Marco Rubio and the rest of the GOP field are closing in.

Cruz's problems were in sharp relief at the Fox News debate in Des Moines Thursday night, where he was everyone's favorite punching bag. The consistent charge: Cruz is a fake.

"This is the lie that Ted's campaign is built on, and Rand touched upon it -- that he's the most conservative guy, and everyone else is a -- you know, everyone else is a RINO," Sen. Marco Rubio said Thursday night. "The truth is, Ted, throughout this campaign, you've been willing to say or do anything in order to get votes."

A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows that Trump has overtaken Cruz by 7 points, leading 32% to 25%.

Most tellingly, both his campaign and one of his super PACs on Thursday launched new television advertisements against Rubio, a candidate they already saw on defeated.

...

Meanwhile, Trump is free to skip debates and constantly question Cruz's eligibility to serve as president.

"I'm glad I wasn't there 'cause I guess all of that -- he got pummeled, wow," Trump said Friday of the Fox News debate. "And you know they didn't even mention he was born in Canada."

Don’t get me wrong. Ted was right in the sense that he highlighted values that some in Manhattan hold. Where he flubbed was leaving Donald the opening to conflate that with all NY during the debate. And then clapping like Jojo the sea world seal. IMO.

Since when did conservatives take CNN’s jabs to heart? It used to be very telling to see who CNN doesn’t like. Now people are willing to pile on?

You wait and see. We started the primary period with the 2 front runners non-establishment types anti-GOPe candidates. By the end don’t be surprised if we get a GOPe candidate because we are too idiotic to see how the media is playing us to destroy BOTH good candidates that we have!!!

Like when Trump's lawyer threatened to "ruin" a Daily Beast reporter for writing about Trump's past?

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/07/27/ex-wife-donald-trump-made-feel-violated-during-sex.html

Trump's lawyer then changed tactics, lobbing insults and threatening a lawsuit if a story was published.

"I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we're in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don't have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know," Cohen said. "So I'm warning you, tread very f***ing lightly, because what I'm going to do to you is going to be f***ing disgusting. You understand me?"

his adoration for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who gave us Obamacare.

Exactly which Republican voted against Roberts or predicted him to vote this way on Obamacare? Everyone adored Roberts before the Obamacare vote. Other than that, he's voted right on everything.

Nothing phony about Cruz. He’s a big fan of pop culture references, SNL skits, etc. He did a great job with his opening remarks making fun of Trump. I LOLed.

"He’s successful, hard working, and has a fabulous family that he has been hands-on with.

Not so much so with his daughter from Marla Maples until recently. Remember Marla Maples?

I have heard the Daily Beast is a real liberal site. I don't think I would trust what they say.

Amen to that. Levin and Beck have been insufferable. I never listened to Beck but I liked Levin. He is off my listen to list forever.

I listen to Michael Savage and watch Dennis Michael Lynch during the Kelley slot on Newsmax.

Really strange how few people understood it was a joke. Very clever in my opinion.

I’m sure everyone on every campaign has non-disclosures to sign with their blood. You can bet Trump has a warehouse full of documents he has his people sign.

First mistake Cruz made and without Trump there at the debate, was going on the attack toward Trump! Cruz quickly became the pinata from all sides. Cruz obviously underestimated the backlash toward him. For a smart man,he failed, tremendously without Trump ever being there. The others piled on Cruz. Trump had his own rally raising money for the VETERANS and Wounded Soldiers. Cruz is a politician and should know better.Guess what, playing with sharks will get you a big bite. Cruz had his moment and failed. Playing up to the moderators or media will get you nowhere,in particular if you’re a republican.

Anyone that supports Trump is a Nazi loving pig, member of the KKK, a skin head, a Marxist or a satanic worshiper and all are leftist goon squad eunuchs that hate America and they know Trump will never become POTUS once all of the real truth comes out about him and he will be destroyed by the press and democrats.
