Following Thursday's Republican debate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is calling for a reform of the debate process.
Speaking on "Fox & Friends" Friday morning, Carson suggested that one of the reforms the Republican National Committee should make concerning the debates is a time clock.
"I do think that, at some point, they need to readjust some of the formats, and actually have a clock and time the amount of time that people talk," Carson said. "Just because someone mentions your name you get twice as much time, or three times as much time. That really doesn't make a lot of sense."
Carson's sentiment about a debate clock is likely driven by the fact that he received the least amount of speaking time during Thursday's debate.
According to the Washington Examiner's Jason Russell, Carson only received 9.1 percent of the time last night to speak. That's a far cry from the amount of time allotted to Rubio and Cruz, who both surpassed 19 percent (19.9 and 19.6 respectively).
"I probably had the least time to speak, but perhaps had the most to say," Carson added during his interview on "Fox & Friends."
"It's important to be able to get the messages out, and I think the forum last night was more conducive to that than some of the others have been," Carson went on to say, noting that Donald Trump's absense gave each candidate a larger platform to pitch their message.
A spokesman for the Carson campaign did not immediately reply to a request for comment from TheBlaze.

Hey Ben, Go bold and call for an end to these useless execises.
We need far more than equal speaking time-—which I agree with. We need mods who ask one-sentence questions only. No speeches. Mods should be behind a darkened screen so they get NO airtime whatsoever. EVERY candidate answers the same question.
I’m with Ben on this one. Among other “reforms”: NO MORE VIDEO CLIPS!
I support changes to the time rule.
But most importantly, the moderators need to be picked by the candidates. No more Liberals from Fox trying to torpedo whichever Republican looks likely to be successful. Just get a moderator who is respectful toward Republicans, and have them ask questions which help elucidate the different positions on important issues.
It’s not hard.
PS. No more stupid youtube questions from Muslims with an axe to grind.
Ben should have skipped the debate and stood with Trump. That said, Im glad he is speaking up. I really admire the guy, I hope he gets the call to help fix the mess that has been made of the health care system.
Boo Hoo. Just stop the stupid debates, period
By the end of Feb. we are going to have the nominee. D. Trump.
Yeah, who needs debates. dforest will just assign us our candidate.
Agree
I didn’t watch the debates, but my 13-yr-old son did. He said the EXACT same thing. The other candidates weren’t allowed to speak.
Have random “journalists” submit their questions and have them read by one of those cartoon conversation generators
Carson would have made a statement if he had just walked off the stage and said he was going over to Trump’s rally - “You don’t need me, I don’t need you.” “See ya.”
Seat the candidates around the table and have them talk to each other. I think we’d learn a lot more. Maybe they would, too.
Of course not, Doctor. You are not a threat to the DC Uni-Party.
Very weak Carson. What should be challenged and quickly, is using incriminating videos against candidates, and challenges from ‘Youtube’ celebrities.
Uh, did I ever mention that? I wasn’t aware that these TeeVee debates are what makes up our minds. Maybe they do for you.
Or perhaps they are and that is why we end up losing to democrats.
I posted nothing to you that made it necessary to be nasty.
And the winner of last night’s debate was —— Donald Trump! What, you say Trump was not a participant? In reality, he was a participant, just at another place and on another channel, OAN news channel.
As for Cruz, whom I like, he blew it when he went after Trump with lots of negative comments to the news media after Trump pulled out of the debate. He should have said that he understood Trumps actions, especially in view of the horrible comments issued by Fox News. Plus, the fact that Megyn Kelly should not have been selected as a debate moderator. Cruz could have made himself look like a good guy.
Instead, Cruz spoke negatively of Trump and then suffered at the hands of the obnoxious Kelly who used every trick in the book to go after Cruz like she had gone after Trump. Then, in the post debate interview with Kelly, Cruz compliments her for doing a good job. Say what? She tried to hang Cruz out to dry.
Up until now, I have favored Cruz over Trump. Unfortunately, there is a side of Cruz I saw over the past few days that makes me question his likability factor. As for me, Trump is now my candidate of choice.
Not getting his fair share, what is he, black?
Same here, Trump won’t go to any more debates if they continue to use attack videos.
