Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll (R-25) thinks that Ted Cruz is the “right combination of philosophy and experience” to become the next president of the United States.
-snip-
“I think Ted Cruz is going to win in Iowa,” Carroll said. “If that happens and Trump sort of flames out—remember he is much more popular among people that are not traditional republicans and not very popular among many conservatives though there are exceptions—and Cruz is perceived as the frontrunner, the so-called establishment might turn to one of the Governors whether that is Bush or Kasich. Right now if seems like Kasich is the choice, but if he doesn’t catch on, Chris might.”
Carroll believes that Trump has reached his “maximum support” from Republicans.
“I think if he doesn’t do as well as someone else, the party will coalesce around someone else,” Carroll said of Trump. “I hope that someone is Ted Cruz, myself.”
Carroll spoke with PolitickerNJ after his participation on a legislative panel at the New Jersey School Choice Summit, a summit focused on bringing educators and legislatures together to discuss the merits of giving parents and kids throughout the state alternative choices for education. On that panel, he was joined by state Senator Tom Kean Jr. (R-21) and Assemblyman Gary Schaer (D-36).

I think Hell will freeze over someday right after Cruz wins Iowa.
Admire him all you like.
We need a man that can not just form coalitions with his own people, but with others as well.
Ted can’t even form a coalition with his own people.
I’m sorry as can be, but that is obviously true.
I appreciate your nice replies.
I just hate the fact that we already have the House and Senate getting along with liberals; now the President will too. Triple whammy on We the People and strike three for conservatism, IMO.
won’t matter if he does- trump-mania has swept the nation and Ted won’t be able to carry enough of the other states-
I would urge you to listen to Trump’s rallies.
He lays out exactly what he wants to do.
His plans are to the right of Democrats and Republicans.
They both trash him for it.
What do you think all the claims of racism are? That’s coming from the Right too.
You’re not seeing the Executive Branch go Left.
If you were seeing that, one of the other candidates would be beating Trump.
The public want change for the better, and having listened to him, they think he’s it.
I agree.
Thanks for the nice note.
[[Although I thought the debate last night was shaky.]]
Thanks to a snaky irritating Chris Wallace and Megan’s ‘gotcha questions’ and fox news’s constant provoking of candidates to get them to attack each other-
The whoel debate4 practically was an attempt to make the candidates destroy each other instead of focusing on the important issues this nation is facing- Megan calls Ted a liar on national TV during the debate- and then AFTER the debate calls him truthful AFTER the damage was already done!
Fox news, proving once again they have no business being in the debate moderation process-
Might end up too close to call or might not be. All depends on Trump’s get out to caucus efforts. And he has the guy who helped Santorum in 2012, but joined Trump this time.
I do not for one minute believe that Donald Trump is a racist. I believe he loves this country and is a patriot as well. I enjoy his non PC verbiage and his claim that he cannot be owned or bought.
There is no true way to describe my reservations. I promise this much, if Trump is the nominee, I will vote for him gladly. But, Ted Cruz was loyal to the voters of Texas, I will return his loyalty by voting for him in the primary.
I support you doing it.
It’s your vote and you should do what you want with it.
