A grain of rice can hurt really bad. Just like a paper cut can. I know I’ve had burns in my kitchen that I thought might be worth a Purple Heart. Also, Kerry’s butt is sinewy, long, and quite sensitive. So just imagine in the fog of war how much it would hurt to have rice seared, seared to your butt. And also, it took place in Viet Nam.
