Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said after Thursday evening's GOP presidential debate that he's the only candidate in the 2016 presidential race who has consistently opposed "amnesty" for illegal immigrants.
"In the Republican field, I am the only person on that stage, the only Republican running, who opposes amnesty, who opposes a pathway to citizenship," Mr. Cruz said on Fox News' "The Kelly File." "Marco Rubio and Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump â all three of them support a pathway to citizenship."...

Other way around my FRiend.
Opposing amnesty and stopping the flow of illegal aliens into this country and deporting all illegal aliens are two different things.
Have it your way.
Being here illegally is against the law. Overlooking the fact that they are lawbreakers IS amnesty.
That’s not what Schumer says. He says that the bill would be law but for Ted Cruz’s efforts.
I like your definition better than Cruz’s. Yours is at least intellectually honest!
All I’m defending is what is in my head. I’m not trying to persuade the sane conservatives to abandon their position that the judiciary will grant citizenship to lawful permanent residents over the objections of Congress.
Literally laughing. Schumer says one thing, while the actual, verifiable, historical facts say something else entirely.
And you believe Schumer.
Because Dems in general and Schumer in particular are bastions of truth and integrity.
SMH.
Hasn’t Santorum always opposed it?
That’s one of the problems I have with politicians, doublespeak. If they truly believe something, why won’t they come out and say it? I take doublespeak to mean they don’t believe it but hope you do.
LOL. Trumpophile is hardly a derogatory designation.
Phile:
“having a strong affinity or preference for”
It’s both an appropriate and accurate description of someone who supports Trump.
But like a typical “Trumpophile” you make judgements with a predictable kneejerk reaction rather than educate yourself on the facts
Trading one would be tyrant on the left for another would be tyrant on the right.
What's worse is the Pubs will roll over for every left wing solution he comes up with. They will support his touchback amnesty because the donor class wants it, even though in so doing they will ultimately be transformed into a permanent minority party.
Which is why Cruz defines amnesty as citizenship, however he is still a liar because Rand Paul had exactly the same position on illegals as Cruz until Trump came along.
Lying for votes and political posturing in the Senate has made Cruz a very unpopular guy. Morning Joe tells how Cruz wanted a floor vote and not one single Senator would second that. Joe said it was unprecedented that no one would go along with Cruz on the courtesy of getting a floor a vote.
BS. The senate leaders who, along with Ted Cruz, defeated the gang of eight bill all say that Ted Cruz has always been against amnesty, and that if it wasn’t for Ctuz’s poison pill, the gang of eight bill would be law right now.
Hey genius, the gang of 8 bill pasted the Senate. Cruz you know is a Senator. It passed the Senate, Cruz did not kill anything. I post a link a minute ago go read that and get back to me.
McCain said that the McCain-Kennedy bill was not amnesty because the lawbreakers had to pay a fine, learn English, and get to the back of the line. Ryan said the Gang of 8 bill was not amnesty using the same reasons. It is just the parsing of words to fool and deceive.
Well they granted same sex marriage over the objection of Congress. I don’t think the judiciary gives a damn about Congress.
That depends on the issue.
Yes, Cruz went out and said he really wanted the bill to pass, however, this is what you do when you offer a poison pill.
So, here RedState is confirming that Cruz offered his support for the bill.
Then, they offer this little tidbit
So did Cruz mislead his fellow senators? That's not the question.
The answer to this is obvious isn't it? Ted's tactic, according to this article is that Ted used deceit (lies) as a strategy to kill the bill.
Isn't this what Cruz is trying to get across?
