Pierre Moscovici, the Economics Commissioner, said that Britain's "zero rate" for VAT on a number of items is "not the best idea" and suggested it will be looked at as part of a review by the European Commission.

The EUs imperious disregard of the sovereignty of England’s citizenry — gives a glimpse of how the coming global government will render all representative governments powerless to exercise the will of the voting public.

The EU is on the path to dissolution (in terms of a political entity}, both from the general electorate of member countries and by local governments. Given European history, I’m glad I don’t live over there.

Nope, nothing’s going to utterly dissolve it; but it may get downsized somewhat. The elites rule by crisis, remember.

Given the influx of non assimilating hordes invading Europe, I’m glad I don’t live there.

This has nothing to do with the country's internal welfare state system, which isn't free.
This is external meddling by the unelected morons in Brussels.

VAT is the most punitive of tax schemes.

When Europe goes over the edge this time (when, not if) we need to remain spectators.

Twice was enough for the USA to rescue them.

England doesn’t get free university tuition. The free medical care is superb though. Had a suspected stroke (which fortunately turned out to be merely a seizure) and they kept me in for two days running tests and it didn’t cost me a penny! In America I’d have been crippled with ruinous medical bills for having the audacity to have had a medical emergency through no fault of my own. If I’d had cancer or a heart attack, I doubt it would have been conducive to getting to focus on my recovery. How’s that collective shafting of the American population by the vested interests of the American insurance and medical industry working for ya? :D

“England doesnt get free university tuition. The free medical care is superb though.”

i believe they once did offer free, or a very low tuition post secondary education. even now, i believe the costs of college/university education is much cheaper in England than in the States. Their medical care via the NHS is considered free; tho, i believe that workers in the UK pay for it out of their paychecks while employed. could be wrong about that?? unfortunately, a person might have to wait for treatment under the NHS. Had a family member get ill while visiting in England, and an NHS doctor came to the house to check on them, at no charge. it’s true about the outrageous costs of medical care in the US, with all the premiums, co-pays, deductibles, exclusions; itemized medical charges for every little bandaid, test, doctor and room charges, etc. there is no save $2500 per annum, keep your own doctor and other false promises in the UN-Affordable Care Act passed by our unrepresentative Congress.

Oh thank you for correcting me about the college thing. I am so grateful that you were able to have such great medical assistance during that time. And you are right our medical needs some tweaks and hopefully it will happen. Actually it is going to have to happen.

You said it!
Sooo many out here on the left coast love the idea of the EU run europe.
Giving no critical examination for loss of sovereignty, over burdening regulation, and being lorded over by an unelected government body that is unaccountable to citizenry.
When the shtf, the majority of our idiocracy will no doubt embrace the hope of new-and-improved governance & financial system, just as they did with the majik negro potus.

The wise refusal of Eastern Europe to be drawn into the EU scam as well as resurgent nationalism in France and Germany will doom the EU to collapse. Give it but a little time.
