When deciding who to blame for the current state of affairs in our country, we always run through a familiar list of shadowy villains: the âsystem,â the âestablishment,â politicians, lobbyists, the schools, the media, etc. These are fine suspects in their own right, but I find it ridiculous that, somehow, we skip right over the first and most dastardly culprit: ourselves.
We never blame us, do we? We always get off the hook. All of the misery and misfortune in our culture have been hoist upon us from Washington, D.C. and Hollywood and Ivory Towers, and none of it from us, we claim. Weâre victims. We had no say in any of this at all, according to us.
Well, at the risk of alienating literally every single person reading this, Iâd like to suggest that you are an adult and a voter, and this is your fault. And mine. And your motherâs. And your neighbor Jimâs. And all of our accomplices who generally make up the club known as âWe The People.â

I used to tell my kids if they showed up for work, did what they were told, and bathed regularly...they would be ahead of about 80% of their peers.
They do. And they are.
You can’t get any lower than the decision to “public school” your kids.
Public schools are the greatest threat to everyone’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
Public schools are the enemy..!
“We” the people are made up of hosts and parasites.
The parasites have overloaded the hosts, as indicated
by the re-election of Obama. I certainly do not blame
myself for this, and neither should you blame yourself.
At best, we should have picked our own damned cotton.
I keep telling everyone to never vote democratic again...
I don’t agree. This has been an organized, orchestrated plan, from top down to destroy traditional America and leave them in charge.
Most of what we hate has been forced upon us through an elite that has seized government, entertainment, and education.
This isn’t our fault.
How many of “We the people” stayed home for the last election, giving us another 4 years of Obama?
Abdicating their duty as citizens because they didn’t get their way in the primaries?
Watch it happen again.
Agreed. I’ve always found it interesting that people will except themselves from blame with tales of their individual exploits and contributions, the ‘not me’ syndrome and yet will erect these monolithic structures with which to impute blame.
Sure don’t look at the politicians who were elected PROMISING to fix the problems, blame the victims.
Pretty pathetically sad pseudo intellectual drivel.
Antoher in a long line of “Oh look at how wise and clear I am, I see the REAL problem and am a real deep thinker.”
No just another infantile intellectual screaming “look at me”
And mostly the judicial system. It's the black robbed dictators that are forcing their own will on the American people today, and the American people just let them do it. They vote for politicians who pawn off their control freak agendas onto the liberal courts who'll do their dirty work for them.
The American people didn't vote for abortion. They didn't vote in favor of queer "marriage", either. No one voted for emanate domain, or Obomacare (They just voted for the latest media celebrity - and they're still doing it!)
If we, the American people, vote for bad men and women, are we blameless when they behave badly?
What we have seen since the 1930s has been the progressive balkanization and polarization of America. Instead of a unified identifiable “American” nation, we have been chopped into competing blocs and set to fighting against each other. The left has deliberately supported the “un-American” blocs as they attempt to cleave more and more new blocs out of the American body politic. As each bloc is cleaved off, it has the government bestow it with a new set of identifiable “rights.” Those “rights” inherently come into conflict with the “rights” of other blocs, and the government, primarily through its judicial branch, determines the winners and losers between these competing rights. Such rights are not “rights” at all, but are instead licenses to be granted and revoked as the government sees fit. And thus we become pieces of meat to be disposed of as the government sees fit.
The polarization of the American body politic is greater than any time since 1860.
I held my breath and voted for Bush Sr.. I held my breath and voted for Dull. I held my breath and voted for Bush Jr. I held my breath and voted for McCain. I held my breath and voted for Romney. I voted for republicans in my district and state and was overwhelmed by a tiny sliver of parasitic city dwellers. I started a business and pay obscene amounts of taxes to a government that despises me to give to ungrateful people who hate me.
Yeah. My fault.
I’m not lowering the standards. I do what I can to uphold high standards and encourage other people to do the same.
Then, every four years I have to hold my nose and vote for the least despicable candidate that the crazy primaries have left us with.
I don’t hear any gunshots yet, so I’ll keep voting and hope for the best.
