For election after election, contenders for the White House knew one thing they had to do to win Iowa's first-in-the-nation presidential caucus: pay homage to the state's corn ethanol industry.
But a potential victory next week by Ted Cruz is threatening to explode that script...

Nope...he’s gonna wipe the floor with Trump. Polls showing Trump ahead require a massively historic Iowa caucus turnout for Donald Trump. He doesn’t have the ground game for it...not gonna to happen.
Cruz is against ALL government subsidies and bailouts.

I think a lot of FReepers will snap out of their spell when Cruz defeats Trump in Iowa.

Ethanol ruins your engine, is less cost efficient and has cause corn to go ridiculously high. I have a cousin who is a farmer in Iowa who laughs at how the politicans kiss they boots with ethanol to get a vote. They even get money not to grow anything. That’s our government at work. Waste, vote buying and subsidies. Very few will stand up to this corruption.

I am disappointed in you disparaging Trump like that. His vocabulary is twice as large as you give him credit for. He says “terrific” quite a bit, too.

That would be a good thing.
Whoever your candidate is, it’s time we ended the ethanol mandate and subsidy.
Of course — it’s the cult of personality. His candidate told him the subsidy needs to be doubled — so it does, and if you think that it needs to be eliminated, well, you’re just not a real conservative.
Especially if you think crazy things like that the EPA might be a dictatorship.
