I know Joe Votel well. He is one of the good guys. He is no longer the Commander of SOCOM for reasons that I understand but cannot confirm. He has been nominated to command ISAF, the NATO command in Afghanistan. If you met him in a pub, you would think him to be a Professor of English Lit. How wrong you would be. He is right on this point.
