But wasn't he white? /s

Only in America can a poor black boy grow up to be a rich white woman.

I thought the ‘gloved one’ was O J Simpson.

I find this funny. However, it will be a challenging role for him. He seems to be a good actor. I am just not sure I would take the role if I were in Hollywood. How is he going to play with those kids? That is too gross even for a possible Academy Award character.
To: dynachrome
Beautiful.
Hollywood had a Norse god who was black.
They want James Bond to be black.
Santa Claus can be black.
Little Orphan Annie can be black.
That’s all fine.
But take a black guy who happened to have white skin, and hire a white actor for the role????????? Worse thing ever to happen in the history of the world!

He sure tried to act and look it
With all the unrealistic tokenism now on TV, in movies, and in commercials, it’s laughable to criticize this choice of actor.

Caitlyn Jenner? Pee-Wee Herman? Ru Paul?
What are they whining about? There seems to be a huge push to cast superheros black that were never black before...talk about culture appropriation

Why the sarcasm tag? That seems like a legit question to me.

It could be worse - they could have cast Pauly Shore.

I want a white Southerner to portray MLK Jr. and a Vietnamese guy to play Malcolm X. While we’re at it I’d also like to have Lindsay Lohan play Ella Fitzgerald.
Because diversity, right?

It can’t be that easy to cast. They have to find an actor whose nose falls off.
To: dynachrome
Reminds me of the time I heard Michael Jackson was gonna portray Edgar Allen Poe. After about a half hour, I was like “Hey...isn’t Michael Jackson black?”

BET is stupid. It is British TV. While there are Black British actors, there aren’t many of them.
