"There is no suggestion that he has broken the law by exercising his right to freedom of expression", read the statement.
Cleared: Fury faces no action from the BBBC.
Tyson Fury has escaped with just a ticking off from boxing's bigwigs for his homophobic and sexist rants.
Fury was interviewed by the British Boxing Board of Control stewards yesterday and they claim they cannot punish the world heavyweight king because of his right to free speech.
"In such circumstances, the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control have been advised that they cannot interfere with his basic human rights.
"Having said that, the stewards of the Board have made it clear to him that as world heavyweight champion, arguably the holder of the most prestigious title in sport, there are heavy responsibilities upon him to avoid making controversial, non-boxing comments.
"He has assured the stewards that he understands the responsibilities upon him and has expressed regret that he has caused offence to others, which was never his intention."

He gave an apology to the board, so, face-saving for them. He should now double down and tell the world that anyone offended by his words can go do themselves.
There they go with that "homophobic" thing again. I seriously doubt the Heavyweight Champion of the World has any "fear" of sodomites.
Free speech wins again! But...just barely, this time.
Well thank goodness at least Parliament didn’t need to debate it.
What did he actually say?
I think it’s on Wikipedia, about half way down the page, under the heading “2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award nomination”:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyson_Fury
But perhaps he has said something else, too. Who knows? Geez, now boxers have to be PC, too?
Thank goodness he didn’t say “niggardly”, or he’d have been out of a job! Thank you for the link... it does sound like just another PC “tsunami in a safe space”, or something like that.
They had to.
Ridiculous nonsense.
Mind you, overall, he is still a buffoon. His antics in boxing are an embarrassment.
[snip] In 2013, Fury told an interviewer before his first fight at Madison Square Garden that he would "hang" his own sister if she was promiscuous. That same year he was fined £3,000 for calling fellow boxers David Price and Tony Bellew "gay lovers". After the 2015 controversy emerged, Bellew said that he was not upset by Fury and considered it wrong that people were pulling him down. [/snip]Wanting to hang a promiscuous sister doesn't sound sexist, it sounds Islamic, but that means this sentence might be condemned for Islamophobia. Oh wait, here's the money:
Fury also stated that Olympic and world champion heptathlete, Jessica Ennis-Hill, a fellow contender for the BBC award, "slaps up good" and that "a woman's best place is in the kitchen and on her back -- that's my personal belief." Fury responded to the controversy by denying he was homophobic and telling iFL TV that his critics could "suck my balls" -- and labelled those who signed the petition as "50,000 wankers".
Hey, they should be grateful *he’s* not gay, because otherwise, who could stop him?!?
So far...
Luke Tyson Fury, real name.
With a name like that, he was bound to become a boxer.
He THINKS he is some sort of superhero.
That’s one of the risks they take, giving boxers those capes to wear on the way to the ring. ;’)
he proved himself this weekend....
WOW
:^) And a success story in terms of fighting addiction as well.
