Trump’s Bread and Circuses … For the Elites
PJ Media ^ | Jan 27, 2016 | T. Elliot Gaiser

Posted on 01/27/2016 2:27:33 PM PST by JSDude1

With less than a week to Iowa’s caucus, Donald Trump has convinced enough elected officials, insiders, and lobbyists to prefer him to Sen. Ted Cruz. A field of economics known as “public choice” explains why: Trump threatens their interests less than Cruz.

Trump is the candidate of bread and circuses. His rallies feature immense crowds that show up to hear him insult, gloat, boast, growl, bark. Trump is spectacle by design. His campaign operation compares favorably to the French philosophy behind professional wrestling. The wealthy reality TV star rents movie theaters and entertains fans with a combination of ego and promises that would make Shakespeare’s Mark Antony proud: free health care, protectionist trade barriers, and gallant military conquests, all funded by taxes on other people. Had President Obama not tainted the imagery in 2008, I could easily imagine faux Roman columns behind the golden-headed populist.

And honestly, after seven years with an entertainer-in-chief reducing politics to parody, I’m not surprised that a large number of people just want to change the channel. Millions of Americans justifiably feel like President Obama and his loyal opposition in the Congress have ignored them, playing a boring game show where they win and the viewers at home lose. If they want to send a gladiator to fight for them, why send not an entertaining one?

No Trump is not offering bread and circuses. He is not Caesar spending the people’s money to placate the people and keep himself in power. Please put things in proper context.

Trump spends his own money and he is, in fact, offering tax cuts and stopping the flow of jobs out of the country so that people can support themselves; quite the opposite of bread and circuses.

Now I’m curious...what does the “T.” stand for? What is the author trying to hide?

I love watching the fascist propaganda press melting down into a bowl of quivering jelly.

Well, duh.

That’s the result of Old Zero up on the hill flying his fancy jets to fancy spots all over the world paid for by US so his family can live the high life at our expense?

Now that could be forgivable, I understand your duties as President make your work areas a bit exotic, and you’d want to have your family supporting you. That’s important in politics. Maybe tone it down a tad on the vacation time though.

But then, we see this goofball bending spine to world leaders that support stoning raped women, killing their daughters, throwing the oh so silent BLTG minority off their buildings. We see him bow to every anti-American thing there is in this world.

We proudly send our champion out into the world and instead of fighting he begs forgiveness and lets those who would do harm to us into our country with his arms wide open.

There’s a time for Ted Cruz, and a time for Donald Trump.

It’s not time for Ted Cruz. As unfortunate as that may be. Face reality. Ted Cruz cannot shake the AMSM to their very core, Rupert Murdoch has Roger Ailes on the phone begging Trumps wife to make him show. CNN is picking up Trump. How bizarre is that? Americas sworn enemies are actively campaigning against Trump. Because they know, the whole world knows what happens when Americans get pissed and every cockroach out there is shaking in their boots sitting in pee. I say it’s about damned time. A vote for Obama’s wimpy American capitulating dream caused this. Own it, it didn’t work.

It’s an affectation to imply class status. When you consider that the royal families of Europe are inbred morons suffering from a panoply of genetic diseases, aristocratic pretentions don’t carry the panache they used to.

“Any kind of royalty, however modified, any kind of aristocracy, however pruned, is rightly an insult.”
-Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court

“Is Trumpland, is anyone besides Trump NOT a fascist establishment type?”

In constitutional America, democrats, republicans, federal judges, the media and unelected federal pig bureaucrats are all fascists. You got a problem with that?
