A Somali immigrant was arrested yesterday for hitting an MBTA bus driver and records show transit cops have locked him up three times for violent assaults in less than three years, officials said.
Mohamed Noor, 29, of Brookline was arrested after he boarded a bus at about 12:45 a.m. on Commercial Street in Malden, but refused to pay the fare, police said.
“The (driver) explained to Noor he would have to pay his fare or exit the bus,†police said in a statement. “Noor began to make verbal threats and insults towards the victim and in doing so placed other passengers in fear of their safety. When the victim refused to move the bus, Noor struck the victim in the face and head with his scarf and hands.â€
Noor pleaded not guilty in Malden District Court to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, interfering with a bus driver, disorderly conduct, and threatening to commit a crime, Middlesex District
Attorney Marian Ryan’s office said. He was held on a probation warrant out of Roxbury District Court.
“The safety of MBTA employees is one of our top priorities, we will follow this case closely to ensure Noor is held responsible for his actions,†said Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan.
In October 2013, Noor was arrested for punching and kicking an elderly bus driver in Roxbury. He was sentenced to 2 1â„2 years in prison, with the sentence suspended for four years, court records show.
Then, in August 2014 he attacked a man in the Sullivan Square MBTA station, savagely beating the 53-year-old until the victim ran onto a bus, Transit police said in a statement. The victim in that case did not testify, however, Noor was held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody for a time, court records show.
An official with ICE said they have not placed a detainer on him, but added “ICE is closely monitoring the situation.â€
But a parachute won’t work from that low an altitude, will it? Oh, wait...never mind.
Even pepper spray, or a baton, would have been better than nothing. But betcha those are also banned in Boston. Funny how the more things change, they more they remain the same. The base beliefs are stubborn things.
Nope. There are a lot of Cruz people here amongst Republican voters. Trump may do well but he won't get anywhere near 100%....or even 70%.

Not anymore. Legislation just passed recently that removes a license requirement for pepper spray. Let the Games begin!
It’s fine. I wish in a way I could go back, my year and a half there are already intensely nostalgic. And there is synergy to my gospel (and country) music interests and those of a buddy who is currently still in Chicago. But the good Lord shut my employment doors there and opened one up in Omaha, Nebraska, and I did the only sane thing. I jumped. It wasn’t in vain. I met more divine craziness down here. Crazy like a Lion.
It’s better than nothing and a lot of two bit hoods are probably going to get peppered now. It could well escalate to needing guns, but it will still be enough to raise a warning.

A huge mistake to keep bringing Somalis into this country. The Somalis, Muslims and Christians, have values that are contrary to ours. They have high rates of child porn, rape, and wanting to join ISIS.

He should have been kicked out on the first assault. You can’t tell me Homeland Security or Immigration couldn’t pull up his Somalia rap sheet. You know it’s a mile long. Yeah, yeah, beating the bus driver was an act of love.
If my fate ever puts me in Washington State, I’ll try to look you up.
