WASHINGTON — National Public Radio’s (NPR) ombudsman Elizabeth Jensen released an explanation and apology Monday for a map published on the news organization’s website that erased Israel from the Middle East.
On January 24, NPR’s blog Goats and Soda, which covers health and culture issues around the world, ran a piece titled, “What Are You Afraid Of In 2016? Globetrotters Share Their Fears.†The post focused on travelers’ anxieties for the coming year, and included an illustration of the Middle East and North Africa, the region of the world that travelers most perceive as being at risk.
“The map portion of the illustration had a number of mistakes,†Jensen wrote. “The most notable being that Israel was labeled as ‘Palestine.'â€
The pro-Israel website HonestReporting.com was the first to recognize the blunder. Its managing editor, Simon Plosker, wrote on their website, “It is completely unacceptable for NPR to publish an image that erases Israel from the map. That nobody at NPR recognized just how problematic this image is on multiple levels speaks volumes about the deficiencies in the editorial process.â€

The real story would be the identity of the person who put the presentation together for the broadcaster. The broadcasters never compile this stuff themselves.

Israel has replaced Dubai as the chic destination for the super rich Hollywood and New York crowds. Dead Sea mud baths are a big thing. The restaurants, hotels, bars and such are cosmopolitan yet friendly and low-key. There is an easy elegance combined with old-world charm about the hot spots of Israel.
Get rid of NPR
Imagine if the UN had 50 states of US membership as it does for all of the Islamic states...
How does the correction relabeling the area from “Palestine” to “Palestinian Territories” correct the map? I don’t get it??
And PP funding, Spin off the GSE's of Amtrak and Fannie and Freddie just for starters before we consolidate or shut down actual Departments....
But that is all folly when the top banana running at the moment won't even get rid of Ethanol, and if that is who he is we are so screwed...
BTW this wasn't an accident, they were just caught. Ya ought to live in MI and see teenage girls with shirts of the whole outline of Israel and superimposed over the country is the word Palestine. This is a movement, it is out their, and it is relentless as all progressive movements are...
Once Muslims outnumber Jews in this country, they will just leave it that way w/o comment or apology.
