Far be it from me to opine that a drug user's actions are entirely their own choice and responsibility.

We are a small rural state of 1.5 million people. We have big-city, domestic-savage filth driving up here, peddling their junk to small town high school kids...many heroin overdose deaths.

LePage is on a massive crusade, gearing up drug enforcement. I'm sure his populist message has a huge following, unlike with you, there is no sympathy for the murdering scumbags.

I tend to not favor public executions on principle. I much prefer expeditious executions as in one appeal and you're done. This idea that these scumbags sit on death row for 20+ years is nonsensical. But, in a capital crime, the evidence needs to be unimpeachable and that the accused is without question the guilty party. If all you have is a circumstantial case...life at hard labor.

I live in Maine, and I saw the governor’s comments tonight on TV at a town hall meeting he had here in Maine. He also made the comments on a local talk radio show this morning.

He was half-joking about the guillotine, but he was talking about drug dealers, NOT drug users.

Five young Maine residents die every week from drug use in this state. The governor is very passionate on this issue.

Almost all of the heroin dealers who are caught are from New York City, Massachusetts, or places like New Haven or Hartford. It’s a real problem here and it is getting worse.

A $15 packet of heroin in New York City sells for $150 in Maine.

The drug dealers then buy guns here in Maine and bring them back to New York City.

Again, he is talking about drug DEALERS, not users.
