In Scathing Open Letter, Pro-Life Leaders Urge Iowa: Support Anyone But "Unacceptable" Donald Trump

Some of the country's most respected and committed pro-life leaders have written a scathing, open letter to Iowa voters warning about Donald Trump's long-held pro-choice record just one week before voters head to caucus.

First, the leaders:

-Executive Director Iowa Right to Life Jenifer Bowen,

-Concerned Women for America Member and Iowa Volunteer Denise Bubeck,

-Iowa Right to Life Director of Educational Outreach Kendra Burger

-Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser

-Iowa Pro-life Activist Christine Hurley

-Concerned Women for America Founder and Chairman Beverly LaHaye

-Former Congresswoman and Susan B. Anthony List VP of Government Affairs Marilyn Musgrave

-Concerned Women for America President and CEO Penny Nance

-Urbancure Founder and President Star Parker

-Operation Outcry Iowa Leader Luana Stoltenberg,

The letter:

Dear Iowans,

As pro-life women leaders from Iowa and across the nation, we urge Republican caucus-goers and voters to support anyone but Donald Trump. On the issue of defending unborn children and protecting women from the violence of abortion, Mr. Trump cannot be trusted and there is, thankfully, an abundance of alternative candidates with proven records of pro-life leadership whom pro-life voters can support. We have come to this conclusion after having listened patiently to numerous debates and news reports, but most importantly to Donald Trump's own words.

The next president will be responsible for as many as four nominations to the Supreme Court. Mr. Trump has given us only one indication about the type of judges he would appoint, and it does not bode well for those who would like to see the court overturn Roe v. Wade. Mr. Trump has said his sister, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, who struck down the Partial Birth Abortion Ban in New Jersey, would be a "phenomenal" choice for the court. Earlier this month, Mr. Trump also said he thought pro-choice Senator Scott Brown would make a "very good" Vice President. If one truly believes, as we do, that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life and is committed to the pro-life priorities of ending abortion after five months, and defunding the nation's largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, it would be a disaster to have a vice president who disagrees.

Moreover, as women, we are disgusted by Mr. Trump's treatment of individuals, women, in particular. He has impugned the dignity of women, most notably Megyn Kelly, he mocked and bullied Carly Fiorina, and has through the years made disparaging public comments to and about many women. Further, Mr. Trump has profited from the exploitation of women in his Atlantic City casino hotel which boasted of the first strip club casino in the country.

America will only be a great nation when we have leaders of strong character who will defend both unborn children and the dignity of women. We cannot trust Donald Trump to do either. Therefore we urge our fellow citizens to support an alternative candidate.

Trump is currently neck-in-neck with pro-life candidate Ted Cruz in the Hawkeye State.

His view on Homosexuality and TTP (I think that is the treaty initials) are the 2 things I want to find out his views on, that would be what would make me not vote for him. As I have to trust his pro life is that........Now about this group of Christians that came out against Trump as he can not change his views...........they have stepped into being judgmental...........they have tried and cast their verdict. Makes Christians
not look good. Again they should have endorsed who ever they want but to say he is a lying, not good. As far as the comments on Free Republic not being conservative any more......sad that would even be voiced. It tells conservatives they aren’t...............just like the gang of 22 last week. Best way to split the team up

Pavlich, yet another of the anti-Trump choir. They are really revealing themselves. Almost anti American at this point. You know they’re for illegals and open borders when they start pulling the abortion card.

You know, there were several stories that said the same thing...I just happened to pick the one from Townhall. So, rather than focusing on the content, you go after the author. The same letter listing all those who signed it was in each news story...so you’re saying that all the pro-life groups are for illegals & open borders?

Maybe that’s because Trump is the only one that they would not be comfortable with on this issue. Pro-life is their single issue. They are pro-life organizations after all.

This one is not about Trump vs. Cruz. This one is about Trump and his stance on this issue. Spin though you might - this is all about Trump.

If they cared about integrity, they'd question Ted Cruz and his history of lying about his positions. Fact is, these clowns don't care about the pro-life cause either. They're in it for the money just as much as any other televangelist.

I have blood coming out of my eyes just thinking of it. The audience roared approval at his answer to her:

Course not. But for me right now, illegals borders trump pro-life. We cannot begin to win the latter fight later if we don’t win the former, now.

The only ones pulling the “abortion card” were the pro-life groups. It’s THEIR #1 issue & the thread dealt with their letter...as opposed to which issue is of greater importance to which conservatives.
