Defense Minister Ya'alon: 'ISIS Enjoyed Turkish Money for Oil'

Comments come as Israel and Turkey are trying to mend ties after years of animosity.

Gili Cohen , Reuters and Michele Kambas Jan 26, 2016 7:11 PM Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said on Tuesday that Turkey supports terror instead of combating it, permitting ISIS to enjoy "Turkish money for oil." He said that normalizing fraught relations between Israel and Turkey was contingent on Ankara's ceasing these activities, in comments that could hinder attempts to mend fences between the two countries.

Speaking after a meeting with his Greek counterpart, Panos Kammenos, Ya'alon said that "Daesh (Islamic State) enjoyed Turkish money for oil for a very, very long period of time. I hope that it will be ended," he said, adding that Istanbul has become "Hamas' terror headquarters outside of Gaza."

The defense minister continued, even saying that Turkey had "permitted jihadists to move from Europe to Syria and Iraq and back, as part of Daesh's terrorist network."

Ya'alon said that "It's up to Turkey, the Turkish government, the Turkish leadership, to decide... should all these stop, and Turkey will be willing to reconcile with us, then Turkey can be part of the collaborative regional effort to fight terror – instead of supporting it."

If everyone knew this why walk on eggshells until Russia went off on the downing of its jet by Turkey (this applies to Russia as well). It makes me wonder what world govts know about who is funding ISIS for real and how they avoid the topic (Saudis, Gulf states, etc).

So Putin was not a liar when he declared Turkey was funding terrorism - but he kept that to himself until the Turks shot down the Russian jet to protect ISIS.

Turkey is a NATO member - where is Obama to stop a NATO member from funding ISIS unless Obama/NATO is powerless to stop Turkey or in collusion with Turkey?

Israel and Greece regularly hold joint military exercises, usually with their respective air forces and navies. Ya'alon and Greek Defense Minister Kammenos even signed a joint statement regarding the two Mediterranean countries cooperation.

I did not know this. Israel, Greece, Russia linked to an alliance? - my God has the world changed in 10 years.

soetoro is in collusion. No question.

Why the GOP presidential nominees and those in Congress don't bring it up daily is an outrage.

------

The McCain, Graham, Rubio GOP is in on the backing of ISIS and every jihadi in Syria to bring down Assad because his is allied to Iran - better al-Qaeda ruling Syria than Iran they figure. Why? Because al-Qaeda is linked to Saudi Arabia and this they feel it can be controlled through them?

I can only speculate. It is clear - everyone knows ISIS is backed by an NATO country it seems and this was kept hidden from us till Russia spilled the beans.

He was KGB enough to expose Turkey's alliance with ISIS.

Greece is always up for sticking it to Turkey.

Since Washington is being run by traitors, everyone is scrambling for protection.

absolutely. But you have to clarify that you are not a putin worshiper before you say you are glad for his attacks on Isis or you’ll catch bloody hell 😊

The comments make Turkey really, really, REALLY want nuclear weapons.

How odd, we could see Israel aiding Syria against Jihadi infiltration via Turkey.

"Israel, Greece, Russia linked to an alliance? "

Add Syria and potentially Egypt.
