Real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump attacked Bob Vander Plaats, President/CEO of The FAMiLY Leader this morning on Twitter. Vander Plaats last month endorsed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for President.
He started off quoting his Twitter follower’s tweets about an interview that Vander Plaats had on CNN as a surrogate for Cruz:
"@xXFlame: .@bobvanderplaats Idiot Bob Plaats on CNN is DELUDED! Cruz's favorability ratings are 0%, NO ONE LIKES HIM. VOTE TRUMP INSTEAD!" — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
"@AynsFriend: @bobvanderplaats CRUZ IS DONE @CNN @ChrisCuomo" — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
"@puttster71: @bobvanderplaats The next president isn't on ur stage. @realDonaldTrump is the next president." — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
He then launched into direct attacks himself.
Why doesn't phony @bobvanderplaats tell his followers all the times he asked for him and his family to stay at my hotels-didn't like paying — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
.@bobvanderplaats begged me to do an event while asking organizers for $100,000 for himself-a bad guy! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
Do you think @SenTedCruz knows about @bobvanderplaats dealings? Actually, I doubt it! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016 |
It has been Trump’s MO to trash any candidate, surrogate, or journalist who has disagreed or not supported him in the past. You’re a “good guy” if you like Trump. You’re a “bad guy” if you don’t.
While Bob Vander Plaats has his detractors among even some evangelicals, it probably isn’t the best idea if you truly want to reach evangelicals because Vander Plaats also has a lot of supporters in the evangelical community. Going to a liberal Presbyterian church for worship last Sunday probably doesn’t help much either, but I digress.
Whether you like Vander Plaats personal attacks from candidates like this shouldn’t be tolerated. Pointing out policy differences is one thing, but this crosses a line which Trump has cross over and over and over again.
Do we really want to have this type of juvenile behavior coming from the White House? It’s time for Iowans to get serious and send this man-child packing.
Unbelievable.
Bob Vanderplaats is the same guy accused of selling his endorsement for one million dollars to Rick Santorum last go around. If Trump says he was begging for money and free stays at hotels, it’s probably true.
But we do know that Don Trumpeone borrowed money from the mob and George Soros. Though he may have repaid the loans, they will always own him...
I believe it because it is happening. I never believed the extent of what it is, in general.
Consider... “The Donald” isn’t truly an “outsider” to politics. For a lot of the current people in Washington, DC, he has been “the donor.” Why will the GOPe get on board with Trump in the end? You don’t piss off your financial supporters.
I note the word accused.. which of course means little to nothing..
Trump just accused vander platts of asking for free rooms.. any PROOF .. nope
Accused Cruz of having 0 support.. any proof.. nope
Accused is easy.. prof is hard.
"Hey, I've lived in Manhattan and New York City all my live so my views are a little bit different than the people of Iowa,..."
"I'm very pro-choice....."
He trys to buy off people and when they say no he crucifies them on Twitter.
That is really what we need, someone who determines his worth by the numbers of people he can crush like bugs.
Wow, I’ve never known anyone like that.
He really is bad.
Thanks Isara.
Nothing burgers for everyone...
Yup - another selfproclaimed leader
At Trump's favorite news outlet - CNN: Trump mocks reporter with disability
This is further evidence that Donald Trump doesn’t have the temperament to be president.
Its why he’s not going to be president.
Romney largely ignored the conservative opposition and it cost him dearly. Anyone who thinks they can abuse those same people into supporting them is a fool.
"Joanne? Is that you? You don't look a day over seventy, am I right?"
Trump is the amalgamation of Oprah (free stuff cuz I am rich), Eleanor Clift (gets louder when she cannot argue the facts) and Rosie ODonnell (diehard liberal who is still looking to be relevant).
Nice try but the complaint against Vander Plaats and Santorum was dismissed by the FEC.
Because if he's not, Ted Cruz will get to spend the last week of the Iowa campaign defending a crooked shake-down artist "preacher."
Here’s what scares me about Trump -
It’s not his braggadocio (could us a little of that)
It’s not that I disagree with him on this or that issue (goes for them all)
It’s not that I don’t think he’ll do what he says (no one does)
It’s that he will form a comfy cartel with the GOPe.
For months, the argument for Trump is that while he may not be perfect, we need to immolate the GOPe. I completely agree with this, and a Trump who actually did that might be just what we need.
But what if he goes all buddy-buddy with them? Where will we be then?
I’m half convinced none of these people even knew who Vanderplaats was until he endorsed Ted Cruz.
