Video: Joe Arpaio Opens For Donald Trump At Mesa Rally--12/16/15
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is heading to Iowa to campaign on behalf of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, according toCNN and New York Times reports.
The Arizona sheriff has been a vocal opponent of the Obama administration for years and is known for his tough take on tackling crime and hardline stance on illegal immigration.
Arpaio will appear with Trump in Marshalltown, according to the Times, a month after appearing at a Trump rally in his home state.
Trump has made ending illegal immigration a focal point of his Republican presidential campaign, and is running neck-and-neck with Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) in Iowa ahead of ballots being cast Monday.
"I have great respect for Sheriff Arpaio. We must restore law and order and respect the men and women of our police forces. I thank him for his support of my policies and candidacy for President," Trump said in a statement published by the Times.
In another statement published by the newspaper, Arpaio praised Trump as a "leader" who "produces results and is ready to get tough in order to protect American jobs and families."
"I have fought on the front lines to prevent illegal immigration and I know Donald Trump will stand with me, and countless Americans, to secure our border. I am proud to support him as the best candidate for President of the United States of America," he added.
The sheriff challenged President Obama's executive actions on immigrations, but the Supreme Court recently rejected his appeal to hear his case.
The endorsement comes on the heels of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsing Trump last week and Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., endorsing him earlier Tuesday.
Joe has a history of endorsing liberal Democrats.
I vividly recall his endorsement of Janet Napolitano for Governor of Arizona.

Some very good things about Arpiao; and some not so good. This could be a net negative for him.
Trump is going to blow the barn doors off of Iowa. Wins by 20%+.
Falwell is a lawyer by trade, not a Pastor.
Sheriff Joe is stressing illegal immigration in the piece and in the video from a month ago, I doubt that’ll hurt Trump.
It sure looks that way.
If this keeps up, in another 5 days he could be within reach of 50%
3 big endorsements in one day, plus Palin earlier. I’d have to say that Trump is having an excellent week.
A Sheriff Joe/Trump engine in AZ could mean the end of McCain and his family of boobs.
Yeh, that’s all to speak about. That’s all he’s done.
Sheriff Joe is on the front lines EVERY DAY against illegal alien invasion, has been targeted by Obama’s feds and walks the talk,,,and all you have to say is
“he backs liberals”?
IN other words,,not pure enough,meh. Sickening.
Some of us are FED UP. You may not be.
Arpaio is hell on wheels on invader and illegals and can sure pick the guy out of the crowd who is the same.
As opposed to the rest of the R. field, who regularly flog rewards for the invaders, pathways for their legalization and their care and feeding.
Cruz gets nutcase Beck and Trump must have been talking to these people to get these good endorsements for some time and now it keeps Trump in the limelight.
Dr Kelli Ward in AZ, is running a STRONG campaign against McCain. I believe she is ahead in all the local polls there.
But, but, but,,Trump doesn’t know how to get along with anyone..haven’t you heard?
