As an influential evangelical Iowan, Bob Vander Plaats experienced what it was like to be friends with Donald Trump. The New York billionaire invited Vander Plaats and his family to visit New York several times, refusing to allow them to pay to stay at one of his hotels and lavishing kindness.

Then Vander Plaats - president of the Family Leader, which is opposed to abortion and gay marriage - decided to endorse Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) for president instead of Trump. On Tuesday, Trump skewered Vander Plaats on Twitter, calling him "phony" and "a bad guy." The attacks came as Trump announced that Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. had endorsed him...

For years we've heard how pastors can't endorse candidates

A church cannot endorse a candidate. But a pastor, like any other citizen, is free to endorse any candidate.

And personally, whenever the choice comes down to protecting the church's tax-exempt status or speaking out on what needs to be said, godly men will preach the truth and render to Caesar EVERY TIME.

Trump looks more unhinged every day. Not to mention his reassurances that he'll "go across the aisle" to make deals with the democrats, don't exactly inspire confidence that he'll do anything he has said he'd do.

That's how we got to this sorry state that our country is in-We got here by: " making deals" with democrats.

Not too impressed with the petty kindergarten attacks Trump has been using against Cruz, either. But whatever.

I will vote for him if he's the nominee, but I have serious reservations about him now.

It’s evident Donald speaks in short phrase/sentences when really his thought/point he is speaking about is much fuller.

He’s been correct much more than wrong on everything he has brought to light or said during his campaign.

I think he’s brought out a great challenge for all USA citizens to stop being ruled by their feelings and to actually look at facts and truth as unfun or uneasy as it is at times.

feelings/political correctness etc are the root causes of how we have slid from constitutional foundation to the mess our country is in now. Our founders were selfless. Vander plat, politicians, most people are selfish more then not.

but you and others can cling to your feelings of Trump’s “mean and nasty” while you go down with the ship of false politicians and whatever level of so called conservativeness you think they have.

I'd vote for him, but I wouldn't liquidate a gun collection to invest in the stock market if he wins.

I hope so, too. That Congress does nothing to secure our elections process (tabulating votes, not just voter ID- although that could be better) drives me nuts.

1. It is evident.. to you, to me it is evident that he blusters about and waits for laugh/clap lines that work.

2 I have dealt with the bully mentality before, and Mr. Trump either has it or wants us to think he does neither is a really good thing in my opinion.

3 That many look at his ludicrous statements and set them asides because.. “oh that’s just Donald he did not mean what it sounds like” is I think not only odd but self defeating “mean what you say and say what you mean” is the standard I am held to.. I will hold others to the same.

4 Do you mean False Politicians or Politicians that speak falsehoods .. they are not the same..

5 Trump the gladhander/bully... If you like him you are a good person and if not you are a 0 a looser etc.. that is what we have now.. sorry do not want another narcissist in chief.

His persona is a combination of Cartman in south park and The Comic store owner in Simpsons. Yes they are both cartoon characters.. and to a great extent so is “the donald” is he really that shallow ? I do not know but I can only judge on what he has DONE not his inner thoughts.

The guy took all those trips and probably acted like he was supporting Trump or Trump would not have invited him so much. Sounds like a bad guy to me.
