Crap. This isn't business. There are times were deals aren't possible or desirable. Take Planned Parenthood. Trump says he is against funding it. The Democrats want it funded. What is the deal he would work on that? Common Core. Trump says he wants to do away with it. The Democrats want to keep it. What kind of deal will be work on that? Syria and Iraq. Trump wants to send in the troops and take the oil. A lot of folks in Congress aren't thrilled with going back in. What is the compromise there? What would those deals look like?
It is all business. As Coolidge said, “The business of America is business.”
So, how do you do away with Common Core? Easy. Trump goes in wanting to dismantle the whole DoEd. He walks out with a “small part,” ending common core. Victory is where you START. Part of the problem with the Republicans is they always start at their final, last-ditch position and end up far worse.
Reagan did deals all the time. In 1986, he agreed to tax increases in certain areas to preserve the overall tax rate cuts. With Gorby, he was willing to give Gorbachev EVERYTHING HE WANTED, except SDI. Gorby stupidly walked away and lost everything.
