Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of the late televangelist, endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday, giving Republican front-runner the blessing of one of the evangelical communityâs biggest names just days before the Iowa caucuses.

In a statement announcing his endorsement, Falwell called Trump âa successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.â
Falwellâs move has long been expected since he has showered praise on the billionaire in recent weeks and developed a rapport with Trump. But the timing of the formal announcement is significant, coming as Trump and Ted Cruz compete intensely in Iowa for the support of social conservatives.
âIt is truly an honor to receive Jerryâs endorsement. Not only is he a high-quality person, with a wonderful family, whom I have great respect for â I also consider him a very good friend and his support means so much to me,â Trump said in a statement.
The rebellion against professional politicians continues.
GOD BLESS JERRY FALWELL.....
.....he does his father PROUD!
Great honor- Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr. of Liberty University, one of the most respected religious leaders in our nation, has just endorsed me!

Yep. This today and Jeffress yesterday are HUGE evangelical endorsements.
In common is the belief that Trump is going to be the last guy left standing
‘Donald Trump is a breath of fresh air in a nation where the political establishment from both parties has betrayed their constituencies time and time again with broken promises and a continuation of the status quo.’
My prediction:
Those who have always been the loudest of FR in shouting down Falwell and his irk will be the loudest to crow about this.
How much weightage does this endorsement have?
How much influence on Iowa??
Oops. That was Trump talking about Falwell. My bad.
Another big bump for Trump.
Cruz - Trump
50 -34 Tea Party
39 -27 Evangelical
49 -29 Very Conservative
21 -29 somewhat conservative
6 -31 liberal
I respect Falwell immensely, but this is a “yuge” mistake.
Understandable, but wrong on multiple levels.
Great endorsements for Trump no doubt.
I am just waiting for the day when the same evangelicals start talking about how the President isn’t doing anything about gay marriage or abortion.
I think both Falwell and Jeffress are Baptist in background. So it would probably influence Iowa Baptists more than any other groups, but “baptistic evangelicals” would also be influenced.
WooHoo. God Bless you sir!!!
Indeed Oscar is standing by.
2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Don’t know Trump’s heart, but from his testimony I seriously doubt that he is a true believer; therefore, Falwell’s and Jeffress’ endorsements are strange to say the least.
