Buy Ammo

I have never, ever had anyone tell me that he had too much ammunition. Not in a combat zone, not in a civil disaster, not even in peacetime. Never. Nor have I lived through a time where our governing class was so deeply corrupt, so utterly foolish, and so dangerously focused on the perpetuation of its own power that it risked bringing down everything we have built not merely in the United States but in the entire West.

Right now, if you are watching the news, you have questions about the future. And the answer to all of them is to buy ammo.

Buying ammo is a no-lose proposition. Look, the worst thing that happens if you buy more ammo is that you have more ammo. Plus, much of our consumer ammo is made by hardworking Americans, and many of those ammo makers are located in red states where the right to keep and bear arms is celebrated and respected. So you're helping fellow conservative Americans, which is good. And you're infuriating people like that sanctimonious, Second Amendment-hating incompetent infesting the White House, which is great.

Of course, buying ammo presumes you have already fulfilled your duty as a law-abiding, able-bodied American citizen and obtained sufficient firearms for the defense of yourself, your family, your community, and your Constitution. I can't tell you how many people in the last year have confessed to me that they have finally decided to visit their local gun seller to do what they had put off for far too long and transition from sheep to sheepdog.

A handgun and a long weapon per adult is merely the minimum. We call that "a good start."

I prefer to stock components and reload my own. At least I would if I hadn’t tipped that canoe with all my weapons in it

How much ammo is reasonable? If you thoughtfully fire 100 rounds a day of a particular caliber, paying attention to where your shots hit and why, you are likely to get fairly good at shooting that weapon (unless it’s .44 mag or .50 BMG, in which case your arm/shoulder will fall off). A “stockpile” of 36,000 rounds won’t even last a year at that rate.

How much ammo is reasonable? A little more than you have now.

Try changing to “title” and pick one distinctive word (I used “ammo”). Works every time.

I have a question regarding ammo and weapons. How do you convince a spouse that owning a firearm (or 5) is a necessity and not a luxury? Since my guns were lost in a tragic boating accident before I got married, my spouse won’t let me purchase any.

We pour our own in bullet molds a lot down here. Melted
lead is hot as heckfire; so you have to be careful. -
Some guy on FR had a really neat setup; but we are poor so
we pour. - His setup was automatic and he could do a lot at
a time. - If you’re shaky, his setup would be better. -
Better yet, just buy some ammo.

Also, be mindful of kids. They CAN reach things in places
you THINK they can’t or won’t! Believe it!

You could tell her that you think women who carry guns are HOT. As it happens to be the truth, its not too difficult to be convincing.

Have you asked what the source is of her gun aversion? Often times fears have a rational basis.

Also, exposure to pro gun people helps a lot. Like any message you want to sink in, you want it repeated again and again and again and again. That’s the game the media has played on guns for years. You might mention a self defense shooting in the news. Or that you want to spend some time working on gun politics.

Tell her that you have decided craft supplies are unnecessary and until you have a proper self defense tool she can forego these needless craft supplies.

Sometimes my wife worries a little about the money I spend on guns and ammo. She isn’t concerned about the weapons, just the money. I tell her it’s way cheaper than a bass boat and she pipes down.

I went through a little “exercise” with my wife. I had a simulation where a home invader threw a brick through our sliding glass door and then came in and had her run around the house looking for the cordless phone.

Once she found it, I had her simulate calling 911, getting put on hold IMMEDIATELY while running for a closet or room...when I “allowed” her call to be answered, I then explained that the Sheriff’s Deputy was on the other side of town and now had to get to our house.

We waited a few minutes and then I told her the Deputy was sitting outside, waiting for backup or trying to figure a way in since the security door was locked.

The whole scenario only took quite a few minutes, about 10 in total, but in the meantime, I had “shot” her dozens of times.

She was NOT happy, but it drove the point home, it erased the misconception that help will arrive “instantly”.

I told her that I didn’t care if the house was robbed, but that if someone came in while we were home, it was not good. Nothing good was going to come of that and that it was intentional.

She is now the owner of her own .38, and I have some others, but she has yet to go to the range or get trained in a class for women.

So there has been progress...

That’s an EASY one...you don’t tell her.
