The Supreme Court restored death sentences Wednesday for three Kansas murderers by an 8-1 vote, undercutting predictions by some that a majority of the justices is ready to strike down capital punishment nationwide.
Speaking in court, Justice Antonin Scalia described the "notorious Wichita Massacre" in which two brothers broke into a home, tortured five young men and women and then took them to a snowy field where they were "shot in the back of the head, execution-style."
Amazingly, one young woman survived when a hair clip deflected a bullet, and she later testified against Reginald and Jonathan Carr. A jury convicted the pair of the four murders and sentenced them to death.
The Kansas Supreme Court reversed both death sentences as well as another for Sidney Gleason, a paroled inmate who participated in the robbing and killing of an elderly man over $35 and a box of cigarettes. Gleason then murdered two others who knew about that killing.

I think I had glitch. Since Sotomayor agree with the execution, I thought she was reversing it, without reviewing it. or something. In essence though, all nine judges disagreed with Kansas Supreme Court’s decision.
IIRC the judge who heard the case immediately imposed a gag order. Media didn't revisit the story after the verdict - maybe details were too horrific, or they couldn't spin the perps as gentle giants or victims of society.
The Carr brothers were violent, racist animals with no respect for life, especially white people's lives. The women were repeatedly raped. All the victims were forced to perform unnatural acts with each other as well. They were tortured, forced to empty their ATM accounts, driven to a secluded spot and murdered execution style. The jury even convicted them for animal cruelty for killing the victim's DOG as well!
When apprehended the Carr brothers were still in possession of one victim's truck, the bed full of items looted out of the victim's house. Still had the murder weapon, too, IIRC. There was no question of their guilt, even without testimony of the one surviving victim.
I still drive by the soccer field that the victims died in, every work day. I won't soon forget it.
Just like they did the Knoxville TN case
One has to wonder, what kind of mind (in the media) would ignore this story and not report about it and in fact, participant in hiding it from the public!
Tie them to a post and burn them alive on television.
Because it's the LA Times.
One woman survived from the bizarre occurrence of her hair clip deflecting a bullet. Isn’t that a miracle, by the Grace of God? Possibly not only to save her life, but so that she could give testimony later?
AMEN!
It is, although the cynic in me would say that God could have had the Carr brothers meet their demise before getting the chance to commit their crimes.
By the way, Sam could probably improve his poll numbers (even though he’s ineligible for reelection) by getting Kansas’s death row moving. We’ve had capital punishment reinstated for over 20 years now. It wasn’t long after that when we had our first capital conviction. Do we even have an execution facility yet? Let’s get the ball rolling!
They were never charged with HATE CRIMES, surprise surprise
Yep. No punishment is too harsh for these clowns who apparently did this to random strangers.
if the victims were armed there would be NO ISSUE......
uninvited guest breaks in....
leaves in body bag....
end of story
street thug starts
9mm ends it
end of story
there is a class of thugs out there that understand only brute deadly force....
they are sub human animals and have to be dealt with accordingly
Here's an interesting example. Joni Earickson was a teenager who dove off a dock and struck the shallow lake-bottom headfirst, becoming instantly a quadraplegic. Unable to move, she had seconds to live before she drowned. God could have prevented that tragedy, but instead He performed two other miracles which saved her life but left her a lifelong quadraplegic. First, she had died her hair blonde the previous day, the only time she had ever done so; her blonde hair was the only thing that made her visible to her nearby sister through the murky water. Second, just at that instant a crab bit her sister's foot, causing her to jump up, where she could she Joni in distress. Her sister saved her, Joni's faith has become famous, and now she has touched millions for God. By the way, Joni is married now: Joni Tada. For further details, see the many books and articles and videos by and about Joni, most recently Eric Metaxas' Miracles.
