Gov. Dennis Daugaard says a measure to require some welfare applicants to pass drug tests would be a waste of money and "somewhat insulting."

Daugaard said Friday that he hasn't previously been enthusiastic about similar proposals.

Republican Rep. Lynne DiSanto is the measure's main House sponsor. Her plan would require applicants under 65 to be drug tested before receiving food stamps or cash assistance.

Living off of the sweat of someone else’s effort should be considered at least somewhat insulting!

But not as insulting as writing checks to the government every quarter so dole recipients can buy flat screen TVs, lobster, alcohol and cars.

Drug testing is insulting? Try having to pay for people who refuse to work for a living. Now, that’s insulting.

South Dakota

The connection of drugs and gimme programs is as strong as the correlation between babies and diapers.

I had to take a drug test for the privelege of earning money to support their dead beat butt. It’s only fair they have to take a drug test to steal my hard earned wages.

Exactly. Having some drug addict take tax money out of my pocket to pay for his drug habit is really insulting.

The recreational pharmaceutical industry is well embedded in the welfare culture. It is a way to make a profit without having to pay taxes. For some, the welfare is new capitol to boost their inventory. Also guns for market control cost money and have to be replaced every year to prevent being traced to bullets fired.

I ‘ll bet a fund could be set up thru voluntarily contributions to pay for the monthly drug testing of welfare recipients.

Some employers require drug testing. Why is it insulting to a deadbeat when productive people who pay their living costs have to submit to one?

DAMN! RIGHT!

Even a layabout government employee gets drug testing, so why not consider welfare recipients as “government employees” in regards to THEIR responsibility....

But of course if they were RESPONSIBLE THEY WOULDN’T BE ON WELFARE IN THE FIRST PLACE.....
