Eleven months ago, police say a homeowner awoke to a strange noise, grabbed his gun and went to his kitchen, where he found a man crouching, clutching a knife. The homeowner opened fire, killing the suspected burglar. Detectives said the homeownerâs actions were justifiable and didnât arrest him.
Throughout 2015, similar scenarios played out over and over again across the city as civilians shot would-be burglars. Six of the eight justifiable homicides occurred during attempted burglaries or robberies - more than in the previous four years combined.

Great, personal protection is obviously necessary AND it might prove to deter in home invasions.
I’d call that an outbreak of justice.
Just a wild guess, but burglaries are down?
At least the repeat offenses are.

It would be interesting to point out the dollar savings from jail and trial for each. Bet it’s close to half a million each.
I wonder if the perps are Amish?
‘And, in June, a high-profile case caught national press when two ex-CNN staffers were involved in a gunfight...’
Oh, now isnt that interesting. Im betting theyre liberals...and armed at that. Here I thought liberals hated guns. Oh my, what to think!! LOL, liberals love guns and buy them. Their problem with guns is that you can have them too.
‘âPeople are trying to use good, sound judgment. Theyâre not out there committing crimes, theyâre not out brandishing guns, theyâre just trying to avoid becoming victims.â’
Really? Thats not what liberals are saying. In their cloistered view all gun owners are crazies just looking for a time and place to ‘unload’. Certainly this wrong since all research shows guns are simply too dangerous for mere civilians. Oh no, only professionals (govt agents) can hanlde the enourmous task of toting a gun around.
These news reports are so over the top...
Haven’t seen the stats, but last night a neighbor five houses down came by to let us know his house had been burglarized while he was out of town.
We can see the front of his house, but of course they had broken in through a window in the back. Need to put up high resolution cameras, but can’t afford it presently.
Take care.........pilgrim
Good!
I don't remember this story. Lynn Russell was more than a staffer, she was an anchor. I wonder why CNN didn't include her at that anti-gun dog and pony show Obama held the other day.
Shoot them or die. You do have a choice.
There were quite a few posts about it at the time. Liberal hypocrisy.

Has the number of teens increased recently?
That’s one of the few good outcomes of having a traitor in our White House - there are over 100,000,000 more guns in circulation. I’m glad to see they’re being used.
It’s a race between the cops and the civvies as to who can cap the most peeps.
They're the only ones in the room professional enough to handle a Glock .40, dontcha know. video
