Back in WWII, people nitpicked that there were too many artillary shells shipped to North Africa. Congress held a hearing and demanded cutbacks.

Then after we advanced through France our artillery was sometimes practically worthless — rationed to one or three shots a day sometimes.

Our economy is treated the same way — inventories are taxed. Do people have any idea what danger that leads to? Tight inventory on food, medicine, shovels, etc. Just look at the blizzard and runs on stores. Storage space should be ENCOURAGED, and so should inventory.

Don’t I know about taxes on inventory. I withhold pay from myself to increase my inventory and then pay income tax on the inventory I have accumulated by delaying gratification. That’s what our country has come to; rewarding sloth and penalizing ambition.

“Well meaning” politicians and bureaucrats manage to put taxes on anything you have or due that is spelled ending with a letter from our alphabet in order to fund the promises of free stuff to their voters. As is typical with progressives, any downside is never considered.
