Are these the New York values we keep hearing about?

The situation described is not martial law.

Oh good gravy! They did this last year too, along with closing the NYS Thruway. Someone said, “Don’t make the first responders have to go out to rescue YOU!” Believe me, I did not get nervous about this in the least. (I went back to bed.)

The author is clueless as to the definition of martial law. Inherently it is rule by the military outside normal constitutional processes. The governors and mayors in the northeast instead are acting in accordance with powers granted to them by their respective state constitutions and laws.

Doing so is reasonable in for limited time in the face of extreme weather, but I can easily see individuals going overboard when granted extra authority. The NE is rife with would-be petty tyrants like deBlasio.

This was not "Martial law" it was a travel ban as in "temporarily keep your damn cars off the roads until the blizzard is over and the streets have been plowed". Perfectly normal and acceptable under the circumstances. FWIW, it was lifted Sunday.

Most of the boros and townships here in central PA did the exact same thing (enacted travel bans) from Saturday afternoon until most were lifted by this morning.

The plow trucks have enough of a difficult time but even more so when they have to deal with stupid motorists who get stuck in the middle of the road because they don't have good winter driving skills or are not driving big 4x4's and even some of them who because they have a 4x4, think they are invincible and end up getting hopelessly stuck. Not to mention that it impedes emergency vehicles from getting through.

**NYPD reported 25 summonses were issued during the travel ban, and one arrest for driving while intoxicated.**

So on the same linked page WND, states the actual info, making their salacious headline moot.

Pretty thin gruel to be labeled “martial law.” The search for the Boston Marthon bomber, now that was closer. The “stay inside” order was absolute, and homes were subjected to search without any probable cause.

DiBlasio's announcement for NYC was surreal.

I am a North Carolina born and raised American who moved to Puerto Rico for my last year of high school and graduated from Univ of Puerto Rico. Had to learn Spanish and became fluent. DiBlasio felt the need to read the Spanish translation of his announcements.

Like fingernails on a chalk board. DiBlasio wouldn't be able to order a cup of coffee in San Juan.

Our language is English you twit. Those who are here from foreign cultures need to learn English like I learned Spanish. My pet peeve is to pull up to an ATM and see Spanish instructions. It's become personal for me.

Nothing to get excited about for it is only a test to see if the meek, gullible and timid people of New York will actually go along with it.

The next “ emergency “ will be on election day and if the people were stupid enough to fall for the first “ emergency “ then it will be done again on election day.

In this case I don’t think of it as Martial Law but Lemming Law.

The boxcars will be loading at Gate 3 to take the lemmings to summer camp. It’s so nice that most don’t come back.

Driving is not a right. It is a privilege. That may be revoked whenever the state wants it revoked.

They cannot stop you for walking around.

Did you guys tak driver’s Ed?

Oh please...”Martial law”

Texas should adopt this during rare dowmpours so they’re not wasting time effort and risking and losing lives trying to rescue some clown drowning in a deep water road. But they cannot.

Martial law, due to inclement weather? Horse puckey. Praised the Lord this land was settled by men of more spine. Disobey. There are snowmen the kids need to build.

They didn’t do a door to door search for guns? They are going to lose some of their liberal credibility over that.

Just another Drama Queen title by some stupid little kid that gets excited and can’t control their emotions.

There was good reason to prevent cars from being on the road during a major snow storm. I wouldn’t expect a little kid to understand that emergency vehicles and snow plows do not need stuck and abandoned cars on the roads during such a snow fall.
