Conservatives support the Keystone Pipeline. When it does finally get approved the government is going to have to use eminent domain to get the job done.
Highways are used for growing our cities? I thought they were used so people could travel easily and swiftly the long distances that make up our beautiful country. Most freepers believe that it is train travel that is evil. You know, the loss of autonomy that comes when you don’t have a car. I think that’s bogus too, of course, but that’s just me.
We’re heading into Luddite territory with some of these remarks.
Apparently none of them drove or flew to work this week. Absurd. Telling that the best they can come up with is a lady’s house that’s still there 25 years later. She didn’t sell it to Trump for $5,000,000 but her kids sold it for $500k after she found a nursing home. I wish I could do smart investments like these TRUE conservatives. Not.
eminent domain is not an issue
the court ruled
A very biased title - here’s the key to what Trump said”
“”I’m not in love with eminent domain... It’s got to be used judiciously.”
We wouldn’t have power here in Tennessee if it weren’t for eminent domain. Not to mention highways.
Stop paying the King's Rent [property taxes], and we'll see whose property it is.
And you also have to get the King's Permission [permits] to do anything with "your" property.
And the King's Men [inspectors] will tell you just what you can do with "your" property.
After all, they like their land and buildings to be nice for the next rube peasant renter...
What position to repeal 187? As I said, that was a California law. Since Bush was a Texas governor, he would have had nothing to do with 187. All Bush said at the time was that he didn't agree with 187, but he also said that federal immigration laws should be strongly enforced. And at the time that Bush came out against 187 (1994), Cruz was still in law school...
There’s a huge difference between using ED for major public works like pipelines or roads and golf courses, hotels, casinos. or limo parking lots. There’s a difference between using it for military bases and the things that Kelo allows for, such as tearing down someone’s house to build a bigger one that can be taxed higher.
Trump supports Kelo. He can pretend that he’s only for using ED for its proper use all he wants, but he has publicly endorsed a decision that allows it to be used to enhance personal wealth.
Enhancing personal wealth is just so wicked.
Well, let’s see if the Congress puts a Bill on the President’s desk then, either President Cruz President Trump or even President Jebio!.
Her house may “still be standing”, but it’s not on the original land when the lawsuit started.
Land that to this day, sits vacant.
At the expense of others and via the government’s help, it is. Private property shouldn’t lose its value just because someone else, rich or otherwise, wants it for themselves.
If it is a private company using ED, there is absolutely no difference whatsoever.
Both would be profit driven, creat jobs, and benefit the public.
Wonky nothing burger. Nobody cares, except political junkies and wonks.
Mr. Voter asks: “what is eminent domain?”
Answer: “It is how government secures land for highways, railways and some public facilities, etc.”
Mr. Voter: ‘Oh, okay. Thanks”
Something happening with the Computer. Missing the last part of my Post. Let’s try again.
“Well, letâs see if the Congress puts a Bill on the Presidentâs desk then, either President Cruz, President Trump or even President Jebio! CAN SIGN IT”...
IIRC, the very land that the Kelo case was over, was taken but not developed. That often seems to be the case reading about such cases, that people lose their homes to eminent domain when and where they do and the original precept that is used to deprive them of those homes turns out to be false.
Perhaps a legislative remedy would be to prohibit any developer who siezed property by eminent domain from participating in another eminent domain action in any way if they had failed to produce the benefits they had used to justify the seizure of a parcel in the past.
Imho, that might stop what appear to be capricious or even vindictive seizure actions.
