Why use “bias” in the total. Do you have a bias against Trump?

bias
noun
1.
prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

If you’ll note, this confirmed the way I used it was accepted, and then said, “...especially if...” Note that it doesn’t say only if...

This word is used this manner on a fairly frequent basis.

I think of this as preference. Bias.

- - - - -

a particular tendency, trend, inclination, feeling, or opinion, especially (My added, but not exclusively) one that is preconceived or unreasoned: illegal bias against older job applicants; the magazine’s bias toward art rather than photography;

our strong bias in favor of the idea.

(My added: again, or our slight bias in favor of the candidate.)

No negative connotation is required.

I respect Trump. My use of the word was not biased toward him, simply noting that the vote was biased toward him.
