I understand that Trump was joking. Nonetheless, if I were a Trump supporter, I would be offended by this. He has basically called you sheep who will follow their shepherd without thought.
How very presidential. Is he capable of being serious and speaking like an adult?

It just points to the fact that this guy Trump stops using his brain when he opens his mouth. This is a really bad trait for a candidate, and even worse if he wins the job. Wars can be started, stock market crashed, internal tensions and hostilities created, if the preezy does not know how to watch his words.

Yeah, well, I guess it is if the pukes in the media are looking for something... ANYTHING to try and discredit Trump.
This won’t work, either... NOTHING WILL (which was his point).
It looks like he actually did say this. Why am I not surprised? Even if he was joking, it is still a tasteless and arrogant thing to say. And, unfortunately, it almost might be true.
Or someone could shoot someone and I would still get votes?
Either way that sounds strange. Why would he care if someone got votes? or How would someone else hinder him from getting votes in the first place?
Another post just said that Someone used Don's tweet account, how does that happen anyway? all is strange.
I think it does say something about him. And this is not the first time where he turned off his brain and flapped his mouth. A president who does not know how to watch his words and calibrate his statements can create a lot of problems even unintentionally.
His is what I imagine a Michael Scott presidential campaign would look like.
