And of course, Trump is also a conservative because I get to define him how I want to be so. She also described the whole Trump movement, actual objective measures of conservatism be damned.

What I've observed recently is that Free Republic is no longer a reliable conservative forum. Celebrity, wealth, anger, and vindictiveness "trump" conservatism with many. People are selling their souls right and left for a charlatan. What's worse, they freely admit they don't care a whit about conservatism. All they care about is winning and sticking it to those they're angry with.

Pyrrhic victories are not worth it.

Uh oh...he's gonna pissioff his new BFF Bob Dole.

Trump is becoming the darling of GOP(e) because they know they can work with him instead of Cruz.

Everyone knows that.

Thanks Ziravan for perfectly formulating the perfect Trump supporting Freeper Slogan......

And of course, Trump is also a conservative because I get to define him how I want to be.

You just can't make this stuff up. :)

You’re wrong. And whining is not attractive.

Trump’s positions are the most conservative in the field. He came out with a very conservative immigration position when the others were either pushing amnesty or were silent and then vague. Trump has not wavered from his positions, while Cruz tried every one possible in immigration, finally following Trump because he saw it worked.

Great tagline!

I just moved to the south and am proud every time I see the battle flag.

She’s a God-damned idiot. The REASON “conservatives never got anything done” is Trump’s buddies (McConnell, Boehner, Dole, Lott, et al) have practiced the worst scorched-earth tactics in opposition to them.

President Cruz may well disappoint me by striking an agenda that doesn’t match his campaign rhetoric. He wouldn’t be the first politician to do so. But. I’m basing my support on his record. His campaign rhetoric, his record, and my views all align.

This is why flip flops are so important, especially in a Presidential election. It’s why Rubio is dead to me politically, based on one, singularly important issue.

President Trump has no history that backs up anything he says. He will disappoint those here supporting him, and severely so. He’s unmoored from any time tested ideology and any way possible to gauge his faithfulness to any core belief.

My core political beliefs have been consistent since 7th grade. In 5th grade, I supported President Carter for re-election because Ronnie Raygun was a dangerous chest thumper. And then. In 6th grade I watched the Iranians release our hostages because they respected a strong leader. I experienced a sea change shift in my world view, a reorientation that has lasted 36 years.

President Trump’s world view changes with whatever “deal” he’s making.

I don’t see how Freepers can trust anything he says. I don’t see how a Freeper that still holds Rubio accountable for the gang of 8 can dismiss the inconsistencies of the art of the deal.

But. La. La. La. My mind is made up. So there. He’s gonna win. So there!

I just wish I could have more faith that there’s some “there” there.

Nothing is more important than stopping Hillary. She's as evil as they come. Trump can stop her. Supporting the man who can stop her is conservative, even if Trump isn't the most conservative candidate.

We live in NC . . the foothills . . on a busy highway; however, the great Jonas Blizzard blew through here and stopped everyone in their tracks.
Looking out my kitchen window early this morning, through the snowflakes and foggy, wintry landscape, everything seemed ghostly silent.
NO traffic whatsoever.
Then, in the distance and still out of sight, I heard the heavy sound of a truck engine.
It flitted through my mind: ‘Who could be out so early before any highway trucks have cleared the roads?’
And just as I thought it, the truck rounded the corner and was suddenly in my full view.
Through the haze that hung between my window and the highway, the truck made a stark presence of color, seemingly proudly marching through ole Jonas’ fury as if it were a Spring day.
And there ‘they’ were . . HUGE in size and prolific in their colors . . proudly flying through the swirling wind and snow: The American Flag and the Confederate Flag!
I have to admit, I felt a renewed sense of pride and hope for Old Glory, and yes, even for the Rebel flag that is under attack in America today.
The South is for change in America . . the South is for Donald Trump . . and together we have a chance to make America RISE again!

Awesome post!

I may have just moved here, but in my heart I am 100% southern.

I think I passed the test, because I’ve been asked many times how I vote and which church I go to. in that order ;) And locals are not PC, not afraid to ask. I’ve gotten hugs, handshakes, and ‘welcome home’ after answering correctly!

Blind trust regardless of track record? We all want the knife out. But we cannot ignore what an office seeker has said and done in the past.

Problem is Ted Cruz already has a track record in the beltway and it’s not pretty. Goldman Sachs’s boy on TPA, 500% increase in H-1B, etc., etc.
